Summary

Once every five years, the Northern Clans of the Durupinen gather at Fairhaven Hall. There, at the ancient castle, surrounded by the very spirits they are bound to protect and serve, the clans settle disputes and shape the laws that govern the Gateways to the spirit world. For the first time, Jess and Hannah Ballard have to represent their clan. It is an awesome responsibility - a great honor...and they are sure it's going to be the most boring week of their lives.

Oh, how very wrong they are.

For something dangerous is stalking the halls of Fairhaven. It lies in wait, striking down victim after victim, undetectable and inescapable. No one knows what it is, or what it wants, but one thing is clear: no one is safe until it is captured.

As their fellow Durupinen fall victim one by one, it will be up to Jess and Hannah, the newest members of the Trackers, to solve the mystery before the entirety of the castle is possessed.

Loved Fiona’s Charactor

Fiona was my favourite character, overall I enjoyed the story, would be interesting in the next book.
The narrator portrayed the accent’s pretty well.

Great story, bad accents.

Fantastic story. Brilliant narration, but the British accents bear zero resemblance to any of our accents. Made it very difficult to Listen to.

Part of this addictive series

I have enjoyed this series, though I have to say the narrator is not the best at accents and can't remember which accent she was doing for which person at one point which I found distracting. However that said her voice is pleasant enough. I have really enjoyed this series of books and though this ended abruptly I am hoping some of my questions will be answered in the next one!

Hard to stop listening to these books

This is the 2nd book in the 2nd trilogy sets I cannot wait to move on to the next. The narrator is excellent, acting out the various characters with their different accents with great skill. Each chapter leaves you hungry to move to the next. E.E.Holmes weaves intriguing mysteries and challenges for the twin sisters Hannah and Jess who despite still coming to terms with their powerful gifts remain firmly grounded. Highly recommend this and all the books about these strong characters. Very well written and totally absorbing.

Love story

The narration is terrible the English accents really hurt my ears and made me cringe. You can really tell it’s an American trying poorly to have London accent, some mind like something from Merry Poppings and we don’t talk like that.

Loved it, but...

I love all of this series and enjoyed this story, however, a couple of the accents are really off-putting and spoilt it for me, particularly Fiona's and David's.

Excellent continuation of the saga of the Ballard ladies.

The characters ring true, the story is moving and exciting, and clearly a lot of thought has gone in to this. Also beautifully recorded and performed. Well worth your time.
