I was so glad to see the Pineapple port series make its way on to audible. So while I have already read all the book, I am slowly making my way through the audio versions oo and having so much fun while do it. This book might not be my favourite in the series but I still enjoyed it the second time through. I was still slightly disappointed the puppies didn't have a bigger role in the book and by that I mean I was expecting them to be up to mischief and I don't think it was as funny as some of her previous books (some of the minor characters were missing- like the boyfriends uncle) but instead the author concentrated on creating a twisty mystery. Every time you thought the evidence was pointing one way it suddenly went off in a different direction and despite having read the book I had no clue who turned out to be responsible.
When Mariska plays elf to help an elderly sick resident to make stollen came to sell at the local festivities, she becomes the prime suspect when the woman dies after trying a slice. Charlotte is quick to come to her aid and start investigating but a lost puppy soon has her following a different clue. The trail of puppies soon has her walking in on another death scene. Was the person responsible for stealing the puppies the cause of the second death? The dead man was rich and eccentric and despite taking in his orphan nieces he was not the most well liked. When his maid comes under suspicion of the death she hires Charlotte to uncover his secrets and find his killer. Can Charlotte find two killers? And the reason for the puppy theft?
I like the narrator. I am glad she is the authors narrator of choice because with this being book nine, I couldn't imagine anybody else doing a better job of bringing Charlotte and the gang to life.
