About this listen

Pine River was supposed to be a new start for me. And it was, especially attending school with my three overprotective cousins, who were the triplets at the top of the social hierarchy. Except they weren’t alone there, and the first day when I came to school, I saw him.

Scout Raiden. Tall. Lean. Tattooed. Mesmerizing.

He was a golden god with dark and piercing eyes—looking like he wanted to eat me up.

The feeling was mutual, and that was a problem. It was lust-want-must have-loathing-hate all at once. I was affected. And I couldn’t have that. No way. Not after what I’d just left in Cedra Valley.

I didn’t care how much money his uncle had. I didn’t care that it seemed every girl wanted him. I didn’t care about his reputation as an up-and-coming fighter. Or the promise of how those hands would make me feel.

What I did care about was staying as far away from Scout as possible. Because the promise of his presence, the heat that was going to turn the light back on in my world wasn’t a promise at all. It was a threat.

I wasn’t going to survive Scout Raiden.

The plot was very well thought out and didn't stray too much. It was darker than expected for a student/high school genre with perhaps some triggers for some. Enjoyed the sport link, too. An easy read.

OMW... AMAZING LOVE STORY.....

I love a good high school romance, and this was a perfect read for me. Better yet, I listened to the audio version with Savannah Peachwood and Teddy Hamilton (swoon), I loved it. An enemies to lovers, no strings attached ‘non-romance’ with lots and lots of drama. I loved all the family drama, the friendships, the non-friendships and the ex boyfriend drama, all making for an addictive storyline. Both Scout and Ramsey don’t mess about when it comes to their feelings. They know what they want and they willingly take it, as long as it doesn’t hurt other people’s feelings. They’re a tight knit unit, and even though they don’t want to like each other, they’re too much alike to not be able to care. I loved it. Great characters, a fab story, not too angsty, wonderful writing, let’s also not forget the narrators, perfect. I loved it. Hope we get more Pine River.

High school drama at its best

I love me a good Tijan high school romance. The drama is always off the charts (in that way that only teenagers know how to do!), the angst is real, the parents and families are often diabolical and it’s all just a little bit OTT. But that’s what I love.

Ramsay has come to Pine River with her mum (who is actually a good parent which is rare in Tijan’s books), after suffering abuse at the hands of the local rich kid in her old town, and after the death of her dad. Waiting for her in Pine River are her cousins “the triplets”, a school hierarchy that takes some navigating, and Scout - a local fighter who has his own demons to run from! They loathe each other on sight, but at the same time want to rip each others clothes off, which of course they do, and the story progresses from there.

We have school princesses, rivalries, jocks, politics, homecoming, parties, betrayal, violence, fear, abuse, bullying, independence, leadership and glitter! What’s not to love.

The narrators of course did a great job - two of my favourite narrators.

If you love a Tijan high school romance with added angst and drama then this is for you. Worth a credit.

This book was phenomenal!!!
Slow, slow burn, simmering below the surface. But, when they ignited…whoa!!!!!
There wasn’t a dull moment in this book at all.
Loved it.
