About this listen

Peter Pan, the mischievous imp who refuses to grow up, lands in the Darling's proper middle-class home to look for his shadow. He befriends Wendy, John, and Michael and teaches them to fly (with a little help from fairy dust). He and Tinker Bell whisk them off to Neverland where they encounter the Red Indians, the Little Lost Boys, pirates, and the dastardly Captain Hook.

Unlike the boiled-down, sugarcoated contemporary versions of Peter Pan, the original classic by Barrie is not only magical but witty, sophisticated, and delightfully odd.

Editor reviews

"All children, except one, grow up," writes J. M. Barrie in Peter Pan. The title character of Barrie’s story, the exception to the rule, has been beloved by generations of children for his exuberance and imagination.

Barrie’s story starts with the introduction of the Darling family, including young Wendy, John, and Michael. They’re soon introduced to Peter Pan. This cocky sprite, dismissed by adults as imaginary, spirits them off to the magical land of Neverland where they must contend with the dastardly pirate, Captain James Hook.

Donada Peters uses a bright tone in her spry performance of this indelible piece of children’s literature.
