Summary

Anne Elliott, Jane Austen's only aging heroine, has devoted her life to caring for her financially irresponsible family. Just when she is growing content with her uneventful lifestyle, a long-lost flame re-enters the picture - now as the beau of her significantly younger cousin. Anne is now faced with a choice: will she watch Captain Wentworth settle into life with another woman, or will she strive to win back his love and escape her family?

Poor narration

The tendency of long sentences overcame the narrator. I had to reduce the speed to 80%. Every sentence started with an emphasis on the first word and then dardy, dardy, dardy, dar dardy, dardy, dardy, dar. I use narrated books often and this is one of the worst. The book doesn't have a steady flow so it needs an experienced narrator to cope with that. A dog barked in chapter 5. Unfortunately sent it back for a refund.

My thoughts

I love Jane and have been reading her for years. The person reading this made a wonderful classic sound as dull and boring as old dishwater!!
