About this listen

Permaculture made easy! Create a sustainable garden in just 9 simple steps.

Gardening comes in many forms—from simple lawns to full kitchen gardens—but one thing is often overlooked: true sustainability.

Traditional gardening may look green, yet it often relies on excess water, depleted soil, and chemical inputs that harm the environment.

This is where permaculture changes everything.

Developed in the 1970s, permaculture is a holistic, nature-based approach that boosts food security, restores the land, and creates self-sustaining ecosystems.

Best of all, anyone can start—no experience required.

In this beginner-friendly guide, you will discover:

  • A simple, 9-step method to begin your own sustainable permaculture garden
  • The 12 core design principles explained with practical, real-world examples
  • How to observe your space, assess resources, and plan your layout wisely
  • The 7-layer permaculture system to grow trees, shrubs, herbs, and groundcovers efficiently
  • Natural ways to manage water, enrich soil, and create a thriving, biodiverse ecosystem

And more—so you can grow food, cut waste, and work with nature instead of against it.

Permaculture offers long-term resilience, healthier harvests, and a garden that gives back to the Earth.

I stared at my backyard eishing for it to be MORE. More alive, more beautiful, more nature-y, just more. And I wanted it to be more in a sustainable and natural way that could feed my family. I was done with the grass that we need to mow all the time.

The 9 Step process found in this audiobook really supported me to plan how I wanted my backyard to look like, what to put, and how to manage it long-term.

Designing your garden based on your local environment is so smart. It’s efficient and prevents waste and your garden will flourish. Joseph Richards does a fabulous job, explaining how you can use the natural ecosystem and climate (where you reside) to transfer energy from one source to another. This type of gardening is so awesome as it uses garden waste and other products to be turned into fertilizer. If everyone did this, we would surly save money and better the environment. I highly recommend this wonderful audiobook. Makes a great thoughtful gift for the Gardener in your life.
