About this listen

When the sexy little brother of Aidan’s best friend suggests a hookup pact, it's the perfect storm for a bi-awakening . . .

Toronto Thunder quarterback Aidan Flynn always believed he was straight, until his close friend and favorite wide receiver signs with a team across the country. Distance opens his eyes and unlocks a desire he can’t deny. Even if his feelings aren’t returned, Aidan still wants to learn more about this part of himself.

Frustrated and a little heartbroken, the last thing he expects is for his crappy mood to get called out by his best friend’s little brother. Or for Levi to offer, on one drunken night, a pact: if Aidan never gets together with his guy, Levi will show him everything he’s been missing—and wanting—in bed.

It’s a stupid promise, fueled by booze and heartbreak, and Aidan expects that Levi will never call him on it.

Except Levi does. He shows up at Aidan’s house in Toronto less than two months later, not only willing to fulfill his side of the pact, but now signed to the Thunder as Aidan’s new right tackle. Aidan assumes it’ll be easy to get rid of him, but Levi is charming and persistent, and he not only ends up living in Aidan’s house, but sleeping in Aidan’s bed.

It’s easy and fun and the best hookup Aidan’s ever had in his whole life. It’s so good, in fact, Aidan starts to experience feelings he believed were long gone, traded away with his friend. Maybe with Levi in his life, love isn’t such a lost cause, after all.

They’re great on the field and between the sheets. But when Aidan’s past returns, he must decide whether Levi also has a place in his heart.

I am absolutely obsessed with Beth Bolden's football romances, and I can already tell the Toronto Thunder are going to turn me into a rabid fan once again. After meeting Aidan in his brother Riley's book, I knew Beth was going to write him a story that would make me fall head over heels, and his unexpected romance with Levi had me starry-eyed and swooning. There's something tantalizingly forbidden about a best friend's brother attraction, and between that and the fact that Aidan was still nursing a broken heart, these two had no business getting together. If I thought I could use the work dic ckmatized with a straight face, that's how I would describe the way the two of them glommed onto each other -- not insta-lust or rushed but a fierce sort of attraction that didn't take no for an answer. Don't even get me started on the way Levi's protective instincts spilled out on the football field, motivating him to step up and move into a more difficult position to make sure Aidan didn't get sacked during plays. The two of them brought out the best in each other on and off the field, and I quickly fell in love with the way they could be both playful and sincere with each other depending on the mood. Aidan's broken heart -- or at least, their assumptions about said heart -- was the main thing holding Levi and Aidan back from going all-in on a relationship, and that was only complicated by the surprise reappearance of "the one that got away". Even though I was kinda moaning about how mean Beth was for throwing that particular wrench in their path, I think it did both Levi and Aidan good to get that closure and move on. It was certainly entertaining to see the little green monster of jealousy running wild, and it put a lot of unsaid feelings into perspective for both men. Outside of the romance, I genuinely enjoyed how much football playing and camaraderie there was in this book. I was excited to meet the team and start sussing out which players might be getting their own books, and let me tell you there are some very intriguing options. I got invested in the football themed plotline as equally as I was in the romance, and I was full-on cheering for the team as they sized up different opponents and had to figure out a way to come out on top. In the end, Levi and Aidan floundered their way into an epic love affair, and I was thrilled by how happily their journey ended.

Beth is without doubt one of the best sports romance authors out there. Since discovering her work through The Rivalry, I've gone on to read all of her books and enjoyed them all. I highly recommend Perfect Storm, it's the perfect start for the Toronto Thunder series and I can't wait for the next book.

Just finished listening to this audible version, narrated by Darcy Stark. He captures the emotions of Aiden so well, his unsurity at realising he's not as straight as he thought, and also his anxiety. He and his love interest, Levi, work so well together as a couple. Darby captures the development of their relationship so well. Highly recommended.

Perfect Storm is the first book in the Toronto Thunder series and could be read as a standalone. This series is linked to Charleston Condors, Portland Evergreens and Miami Piranhas series.

Aidan and Levi’s story is BRILLIANT. Hands down, phenomenal and absolutely addictive. It did take me a minute to connect with them, but once I was into the story, I was all the way in.

I’m so glad we finally get the last Banks brothers story - I think Levi might be my favourite one 🤔. The fact he ended up with Aidan Flynn is actually perfect.

Aidan and Levi’s chemistry is insanely good! I feel like almost everything they did together was just straight fire.

Beth Bolden shocked me by how many cameos and mentions we had in this book! I won’t spoil anything by saying who but keep your eye out if you’ve read the above series!!

Both characters had such a presence and the gorgeous writing exemplified that with hilarious banter and vibrant descriptions. I truly loved the growth in Levi and Aidan’s relationship. Levi started seeing Aidan as loyal and protective instead of uptight. And Aidan saw Levi as caring and free-spirited instead of too laidback. I adored Levi looking out for Aidan 😭 and Levi calling Aidan “baby” was an instant swoon for me.

I particularly loved seeing Riley and Aidan’s relationship growth especially compared to The Star.

I was not expecting the plot to go the way it did, but I was actually really pleased, I felt like it was needed and tested their relationship which made them stronger.

Darcy Stark’s narration brought this wonderful story to life, giving me some much needed joy and it definitely became a comfort listen. This book is amazing and the audiobook just makes it more so!

Overall, this book made me incredibly happy and I honestly could have read more of Aidan and Levi.

Phenomenal and absolutely addictive

Beth really does know how to write heartwarming sports romance and I enjoyed this.
NHL player Aiden always thought he was straight but have been having feelings for his best friend who got transferred to another team. He finally picks up the courage to tell him about his feelings but it doesn't go well. He escapes to his cabin where his friends turn up. His best friend's brother Levi flirts with him and they make a pact that if they are both single in a year they'll sleep together. Not long after Levi gets transferred to Toronto and moves in with Aiden. It takes a bit of adjusting living together but it's clear they are attracted to each other and start exploring together. When Aiden's friend gets transferred back to Toronto it forces Aiden and Levi to reevaluate their feelings especially since Aiden's friend thinks he wants to be with him. This was a great story. The narration was OK but I didn't think it fit the characters and I found i lost my attention sometimes.

I loved this when I read it with my eyes and knew then that the only thing that could make love it more would be to listen to Darcy Stark perform the audiobook.

Perfect Storm is a great start to a new series. There is a bit of “world building” because it’s the first book. I’m sure we met at least a few characters who will eventually get their own stories and I can’t wait to read them.

I loved it!
