Summary

This audiobook includes an exclusive piece, written by Helen Fields, on the development of DI Callanach’s character throughout the series.

When silence falls, who will hear their cries?

The body of a young girl is found dumped on the roadside on the outskirts of Edinburgh. When pathologists examine the remains, they make a gruesome discovery: the outline of a doll carved into the victim’s skin.

DCI Ava Turner and DI Luc Callanach are struggling to find leads in the case, until a doll made of skin is found nestled beside an abandoned baby.

After another young woman is found butchered, Luc and Ava realise the babydoll killer is playing a horrifying game. And it’s only a matter of time before he strikes again. Can they stop another victim from being silenced forever - or is it already too late?

Critic reviews

"Relentless pace, devilish cleverness and a laser-sharp focus on plot." (Chris Brookmyre)

"Must read! With nail-biting twists at every turn, [Perfect Remains] will have readers gripped from start to finish." (Closer)

"Read it in two sittings. I literally had no choice. A fast and enthralling thriller, pitting a new, very human hero against one of the scariest psychos I've yet encountered in crime fiction." (Sunday Times best seller Paul Finch)

Fantastic

Oh my gosh. I am so sad that I have finished this fourth book and I have to wait until next year to listen to the fifth one. I listened to these four books in order, one after the other and I cannot speak highly enough of this author. They are so good and I could not stop listening. To be honest, the third one is the weakest of the four in my opinion as it was not quite so intense and nail biting but nonetheless they were all brilliant and I feel very involved with the characters. HIGHLY recommended. Absolutely fabulous..!!

The Evolution of Eva

Having been gripped by Helen Fields' previous Callanach novels, I was excited to see this one drop into my library after a few months of waiting.
It gets its hooks into you from the start and twists and turns until you arrive breathlessly at the end. This book had me laugh out loud in parts as well as being tragic, with a beautifully designed and executed story from both the author and narrator.
This book definitely felt like it was evolving Eva's character rather than focussing too much on Callanach. Bravo Helen Fields! More please.

Best one in the series so far!!!!

A brutal but brilliant story yet again from Helen Fields and another strong performance by Robin Laing, now for the agonising wait for the next installment.

Disappointing performance!

A disappointment after the previous three books, and Robin Laing managed to make Luc and Selina sound like idiots with speech defects! They ase supposed to be sexy!

Thoroughly Enjoyable

Interesting well-developed characters who you can empathise with despite their flaws. A well-placed plot left me looking forward to the next Callanach book.

So good!

Helen Fields just joined Stuart McBride at the top of my favourite author list. This series is brilliant. Great characters and gripping storylines. This was my favourite one yet.

First Audible book

As my first book this was a great introduction to Audible. I became very unsociable for a couple of days as I couldn't stop listening.
