Perfect People is a compelling and thought-provoking thriller from bestselling Peter James.

John and Naomi are grieving the death of their four-year-old son from a rare genetic disorder. They desperately want another child, but they realize the odds of their next child contracting the same disease are high.

Then they hear about geneticist Dr Leo Dettore. He has methods that can spare them the heartache of ever losing another child to any disease.

At his clinic is where their nightmare begins.

They should have realized something was wrong when they saw the list. Choices of eye colour, hair, sporting abilities. They can literally design their child. Now it's too late to turn back. Naomi is pregnant and already something is badly wrong . . .

Liked the idea of the plot a lot, the twists were fine and not always predictable, BUT, for me the reader was a great let down, the Swedish accent awful, which made me irritable with the book! . At times points were belaboured. Listen to the sample first and see if you get on with it.

Could be happening even as we read !

The main character's in this Peter James latest are desperate people, without intervention a second baby may also inherit a genetic disorder. A path taken and no going back.
I throughly enjoyed the style of story telling, the helplessness of the parents as the "perfect" twins give back nothing, not even the need to be cared for. John and Naomi try desperately to normalise and cope with the unfolding horror.
This book for me was a well spent Credit. I don't recognise this listen as the same as the other reviews, an absorbing and thought provoking listen.

Perfect Indeed.

I am a big fan of Peter James, especially his Roy Grace novels. This audio book is a different style altogether with no murder and intrigue yet it held my attention from beginning to end.
Clare Corbett is a brilliant narrator, keeping the flow going and doing the voices of each character to perfection.

Different yet good

Absolutely brilliant book by Peter James and not one of his brilliant Roy Grace series - it was a gripping listen from start to finish and would make a marvellous film - highly recommended.

Would make a fantastic film….

Small spoier alert
Loved the book and the story - but found the ending a little disappointing,,, also, one of the main carachters, Naomi was quite annoying and hysterical, so got on my nerves quite a bit! But all is all an entertaining book.

Facsinating story by one of my favourite authors!
