About this listen

Your darkest moment is your most vulnerable…

Stephen Berry is about to jump off a bridge until a suicide prevention counsellor stops him. A week later, Stephen is dead. Found at the bottom of a cliff, DI Luc Callanach and DCI Ava Turner are drafted in to investigate whether he jumped or whether he was pushed…

As they dig deeper, more would-be suicides roll in: a woman found dead in a bath; a man violently electrocuted. But these are carefully curated deaths – nothing like the impulsive suicide attempts they’ve been made out to be.

Little do Callanach and Turner know how close their perpetrator is as, across Edinburgh, a violent and psychopathic killer gains more confidence with every life he takes…

Includes the short story Lost Property read by the author.

An unstoppable crime thriller from the #1 bestseller. The perfect read for fans of Karin Slaughter and M. J. Arlidge.

Couldn’t stop listening to this one. Characters develop in such an interesting way. Love the humour around Overbeck and the relationship between Eva and Luke. But the plot is gripping. Dramatic irony with the reader suspecting before the team know keeps the tension taut. Can’t wait for next instalment!

Gripping!

Yet another superlative offering from Helen Fields, narrated to perfection by Robin Laing. It really doesn't get any better than this. Helen writes the best police procedural fiction bar none, populated with characters that you really care about, and criminals that get right under your skin, and Robin brings them to life with some of the best narration you will ever hear. If you've read/listened to any of the previous four books in the 'Perfect' series then you already know this; if you haven't then I really envy you - I wish I could go back and discover them again for the first time!

Twists and turns a-plenty. The reveal unsurprising but the journey towards it fascinating and frightening.
5* writing and 5* narration as I've come to expect.
Next book all ready, already.

Perfect reading.

I go to sleep with Audible every night, and usually drop off well before the 45 minutes I’ve set. Last night Though I had to extend three times to finish the book - and no, I hadn’t guessed the killer. I just love this series - although the characters and events stretch the bounds of credibility, they are nevertheless entertaining and appealing. The narrator does a brilliant job with characterisation, particularly with the range of personnel within MIT. Really sad that I’m about to read the last in the series.

Kept me awake…

Their relationship balances the horrors of the murders. The detail of the crimes is superb, albeit sometimes difficult to endure.
The relationship between DI Callenach and Ava Turner not only softens the crimes scene details, it also greatly adds to the intrigue.

I’m so sad Luc has returned to France ….. without Ava!
