  • Summary

  • Dermot O'Leary welcomes you back to the second season of his interview podcast, People, Just People. Inspired by understanding how some of the most interesting people in all walks of life got to where they have, Dermot chats candidly with guests about key moments that have defined them, the lessons they have learnt and much more.

Dermot says: "People, Just People is born out of curiosity to find out more about the lives of individuals that I've watched from afar – but not had the chance to get to know. How they got to where they did, the highs and lows that shaped that journey, and what have they learned along the way?"

Dermot, just Dermot

Dermot is a very natural presenter. The pick of people that he is interviewing should be mandatory listening as it's both educational and entertaining. What more could you ask for?

Good interviewer

Dermot is a very good interviewer. I found the interview with Kate Adie particularly good. A fascinating insight into her life.

An Event I Remember

Living on the south coast, we would take our cabin cruiser over for a part of Cowes Week, and of course we followed this tragedy, and for months afterwards in discussions at the Yacht Club. The graphic details of what it was actually like to be in that race, capsized and fighting to stay alive, brought to me the escalating horror of the crew.

loved the conversations, but each not long enough

Dermot is a great interviwer, but why does he have to say 'we much touch on that quickly, as we haven't enough time' ... very frustrating for everyone involved!!!

Natural and flowing

No denying it, Dermot is great at what he does. Natural interviewing and informative, interesting conversation, not stilted, just flowing. Some of the guests were more cooperative than others and engaged with Dermot in a really relaxed way. I don't think it lacked nothing from being recorded under tricky circumstances, I wouldn't have known had it not been pointed out to me. I hope there are more recorded. Well done all involved. This is a quality production.

Boring

Very boring, I like Mr O'Dreary but the guests just didn't interest me and it sounded a bit contrived at times.

Great series

Dermot really brings the people he interviews to life. Not the normal boring questions, or the sensational questions, but we'll thought out and realistic questions. I loved the first series and this is right up there with great programmes.

A Slice of Interview History.

With much of it recorded during lockdown, I have really enjoyed these 'chats' and gained real insight into the lives of a whole range of personalities and people. After almost skipping the one about the Fastnet Disaster, I was fascinated by the story and impressed by Dermot's ability as an interviewer to shut up and let them get on with it.
Annoyed by one reviewer who stated he was annoyed by Dermot's voice... if you don't like the interviewer, don't download his work! It's like ordering pasta if you know you don't like Italian food...

Brilliant!

I hope there are more series. These interviews are not too long, but long enough to get a good feel of the interviewees. I could have listened to the 'Bletchley girls' for much longer as with Stig Abel, both from this series. I would have loved to hear more from Kate Adie and the Filming Wildlife couple Emma Napper & Tom Crowley, from the first series.
Dermot is a consummate interviewer, allowing his guests to tell their stories but I enjoyed listening to the snippets from his own life too as he related to the conversation.
