good book, but disappointing abridgement

The story's great, the narrator is very good, but the abridgement is disappointing (although someone who has not read the book would probably enjoy this abridgement, despite the fact that many of the best characterization bits are missing). The completely unnecessary musical interludes are horrible - very melodramatic, corny, quite distracting.

Patriot Games

If you like Tom Clancy this is a terrible abridgement. It leaves all the important parts out.

Excellent On All Counts

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Anybody who is an action adventure or Tom Clancy fan should enjoy this book, which is non-stop action in a realistic context.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack Ryan is a main character in a series of Clancy books. The character is real, human, and personable, with a family and children. He is an unlikely hero who always finds himself in situations where he comes to the rescue.

Which character – as performed by Martin Sheen – was your favorite?

I have always enjoyed Martin Sheen's voice. In this case, he performs all the characters well, but I particularly enjoy his characterization of the main character, Jack Ryan.

well performed, but average story

I am not the most avid spy novel reader, so take that in account. The story was okay, but nothing you couldn't figure out on your own. I kept waiting for plot twists. none came. I'll try another Chancy novel to see if, in my eyes, he redeems himself.

Great Book

I knew the story from the movie but it was a great listen, although shorter than I expected. Martin Sheen is easy to listen to.
