About this listen

Orphan William Hyde and professor's daughter Melissa Elmet fell passionately in love as teenagers at Oxford. But, after her family intervenes, their secret marriage is annulled. Heartbroken, Melissa retreats into her shell, now a shy academic. Will, on the other hand, joins MI6 - then becomes a millionaire in New York, with a model girlfriend and only dark memories of the young woman who broke his heart.

Their lives are completely different. They'll never meet again. And then the killings start. Only Will notices the link to all four high-profile murders: Melissa's late father, the secretive professor who died working on a confidential project. And now he fears the next hit will be Melissa - unless he can get to her first.

Wonderful, gripping romantic thriller, beautifully narrated by Penelope Freeman! An absolute page-turner! Love so many of the Audible books that I have listened to, and this book is right there at the top of the most enjoyable! Thank you so much, Amazon!

Wonderful!

I've read this book many times and have listened to it three times. the story is great and the writing is wonderful. at first wasn't sure about the narrators voice and the accents but after a while I didn't notice it as was too into the story line. I am not sure if I would listen to another book with this narrator as I did find her a little off putting. otherwise great book.

love, love it!!!

Would you listen to Passion again? Why?

I would listen again for the details I missed the first time round as I was in such a rush to get to the finish, the descriptions of the locations and narrative style were excellent and I thought the narrator did a good job of controlling the pace of the book and didn't give into the temptation of too many dodgy accents.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The leading lady, she went through a metamorphosis that was not entirely unexpected but did move in a direction that was not completely predictable.

Which character – as performed by Penelope Freeman – was your favourite?

The leading lady again!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As the story picks up the main plotline our leading lady realises that her previous decisions will never leave her and her bitter acceptance of their consequences was realistic and not trite or treated lightly.

Any additional comments?

I haven't read any Louise Bagshawe for ages and was expecting something much lighter and frothier than this so was pleasantly surprised to find an informative and sometimes quite gritty novel.

Enjoyable well narrated story

Melissa and Will's teenage love affair ends badly and now their lives have taken very different routes, Melissa's to a routine job and a routine romance, Will's to a life of excitement and riches. When Melissa's life is threatened for no discernable reason that she knows, it is Will who comes to her rescue and her life becomes one of running and hiding from an unknown enemy who will kill her without a second thought. After a gentle start the story accelerates to an almost breathless speed and it is beautifully read by Penelope Freeman

Very exciting

A fantastic book perfectly read. This is my first Louise Bagshawe, and I shall be buying the others you have on Audio. However, I see she has written many more books than you have. I hope you will continue to get them, preferably read by Penelope Freeman

A gripping tale
