Shaun Attwood arrived in Phoenix, Arizona, a penniless business graduate from a small industrial town in England. Within a decade, he became a stock-market millionaire. But he was leading a double life.

After taking his first Ecstasy pill at a rave in Manchester as a shy student, Shaun became intoxicated by the party lifestyle that would change his fortune. Years later, in the Arizona desert, Shaun became submerged in a criminal underworld, throwing parties for thousands of ravers and running an Ecstasy ring in competition with the Mafia mass murderer Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano.

As greed and excess tore through his life, Shaun had eye-watering encounters with Mafia hit men and crystal-meth addicts, enjoyed extravagant debauchery with superstar DJs and glitter girls, and ingested enough drugs to kill a herd of elephants. This is his story.

don't get me wrong by the title. I really enjoyed the book, after watching shaun on some podcasts I had to get the audio book and wasn't disappointed, the story is gripping and larger than life. It lacked a tiny bit of cohesion in the way it jumped about the timeline of events in some places and could have used some more framing in that vein, but that didn't ultimately detract from how much I enjoyed the listen. the performance was ok but was a little monotone for my taste and in some places lacking emotion, and an american talking in liverpudlian slang was quite strange haha. I can't help but feel getting a Scouse to narrate the book or maybe shaun himself would have made the listen way more immersive. these negative points do not detract from it massively however and I've just downloaded the other book in the series available on audible.

would have benefited from a British narrator

I started listening to this today but couldn't get through the whole audiobook due to the narrators voice. I have read the Kindle edition but sorry I couldn't listen to more than an hour of it. The narrator makes it breaks an audiobook for me which is a shame as I was enjoying the actual true story again of Mr Atwood from his teenage years to the start of his ecstasy days in American ( Arizona ). Quite how he is still here after the drug taking amounts he took is eye opening. He clearly has been on a journey and he's only half way through it. I'll certainly be reading more of his stuff but wary about the audiobooks.

I was given this Audiobook free by the Author for an unbiased review.

Shaun has some fascinating stories to tell, I just couldn't stop listening. It's packed full of anecdotes from Shaun's time in Arizona, some of them funny and some outright shocking. The Narrator has a good voice and does a great job throughout the book despite some questionable pronunciation of some British slang! I'd really suggest this book to anybody who has any kind of interest in the rave scene in the UK or the US and even to those who aren't, Shaun gives a really fascinating insight to the strange world of raving and selling drugs.

Fantastic - had me gripped all the way through
