If you made a mistake that took someone's life, you'd remember it...wouldn't you?

After a tragedy rocks the community of Promise Falls, Cal Weaver is asked to investigate the threats being made to the accused's family. He's heard all about it on the news: the young man who drank too much, stole a Porsche and killed a girl, and who claimed afterwards not to remember a single thing. The whole town is outraged that he got off lightly, but for reasons Cal can't explain he accepts the job. Then Cal finds himself caught up in a vicious revenge plot, chasing someone set on delivering retribution. In Cal's experience, it's only ever a matter of time before threats turn into action....

A gripping thriller packed with scandal in a small town, from the master of the twist you never saw coming - international best seller Linwood Barclay. Read by Jeff Harding.

This is Linwood Barclay at his best. Paired with the narration of Jess Harding, it's the audio equivalent of drinking fine wine. Both the writing and the voice are perfectly paced. Harding's rich, warm voice brings to life well drawn characters and beautifully written dialogue. The story waxed and wained between two sets of circumstances, then came together in a very satisfying way. So many thrillers are either too convoluted, with too much going on, or simple and cliched. Neither is the case here. This audiobook is one to really get the teeth into, whilst relaxing to the flawless narration provided by Harding. Highly recommended.

Up there with his best!

enjoyed it but thought the earlier ones were better. There were more unexpected twists in the earlier books

Ok but earlier books better

Another excellent story from Promise Falls, with the very ordinary detective Barry Duckworth putting it together with stolid determination. Cleverly worked storyline , with Cal Weaver solving the underlying crime, although the two characters don't come together until the end. Another great reading by Jeff Harding.

Strong Story Line
