Summary

I'll say this about Christian - he made one hell of a first impression. When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I'd seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do - I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I'd meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I'd learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal - No strings. No expectations. Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him.

Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I'd have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed...well, I said yes. But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather's business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot...as long as no one finds out...as long as no one gets hurt...as long as no one falls in love....But our ending was one I never saw coming.

The narrators were the icing on the delicious cake

Having met Christian & Elise in Wanderlust, I fell in love with them, and was delighted when I knew they were getting their own story. This is a complete standalone, and although if you haven't read Wanderlust, do.. it is just beautiful and romantic and sexy too!

The boat tour in Copenhagen is the first 'meeting', and I love a boat tour, a cheeky captain and a gorgeous view. Who doesn't?

Luckily, missed opportunities are no match for fate and chance and this duo were destined to meet again, this time in Paris courtesy of Griffin & Joy. And Joy delivers. Humour, banter, flirting and charm by the bucket load. They have had their pasts, so there are moments, but having just listened to some of my favourite ever Shane East narrating, I can certainly say, that the tears I cried were of laughter and not sadness.

Grace is a favourite narrator of mine, and this put Shane right up there to the top of my fave British male narrator to listen to. He nailed it! I loved his portrayal of Christian.

3.5 Stars

Not my favourite Lauren Blakely read. I didn’t relate or sympathise with the characters during the first half of the story. In fact it wasn’t until the last few chapters that I felt a little solidarity with them. Although I wanted to see which direction the story would take, I wasn’t addicted, and I felt like I was going through the motions to get to the end of the story. It was enjoyable and easy to read, I just didn’t feel all the ‘feels’ like I have in previous books by the author. The storyline was perfect, the chemistry just fell a little flat. I loved Grace Grant narrating, as for Shane East, I have an issue sometimes with British accents in audio, why do they all speak with a plum in their mouth.

4.5 Mermaid Stars

You may remember meeting (or seeing) Christian in ALL his glory, doing naked handstands if you read Wanderlust, in fact, you have already met Elise (She was Joy's friend) however you do not need to have read it to be able to enjoy this one.

Lauren Blakely is the epitome of a Rom Com queen, she writes funny, sweet and sexy so brilliantly, there is always a little angst but nothing to make you roll your eyes at, and there is always...ALWAYS a great story to take you away.

This was no exception...

Elise and Christian nearly have a meet cute when she visits a friend in Copenhagen, but that falls through, even though she does manage to get herself some tasty handstand snaps to ogle at.

They eventually meet in Paris a year later and by a weird series of coincidences, they embark on a crazy deal to help out Christian's younger brother.

The fact that this was a second chance romance is also why i loved it so much, Lauren's characters are always a little older and wiser, so you don't seem to get the college angst kind of vibes from them.

🎧🎧With the usual funny banter and brilliant one-liners this falls into another "Must Listen" audio book

Grace Grant and Shane east were perfect voices for these characters, they gelled together brilliantly and some of the sexy accents made me sit listening with a goofy smile on my face.

Save a credit for this one guys, you won't be disappointed!

A SWEET ENJOYABLE CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

If you’re in the mood for a low-angst, drama-lite, sweet contemporary romance about love creeping up on a couple who’d sworn to keep it casual, promised not to let their hearts join their booty calls and wholeheartedly agreed to end their three month fake marriage after the threat to the hero’s company had been dealt with.. then this is the book for you.

Yes it was predictable.. but sometimes that’s not a bad thing - and with this mighty threesome of Lauren Blakely, Shane East and Grace Grant you know what you’re getting and you know your emotions (and heart) are in safe hands because together they’ve created an audiobook that was enjoyable, entertaining, not too sexy, charming, easy on the ears and leaves you with a smile on your face.

Worth a credit? There was no angsty chapters, no drama-high daren’t breathe moments and no shocking twists to send you reeling... just a good light dual POV Contemporary love story about Fate and the lengths she’ll go to to bring two successful busy people, who’d both been burned before, together. I liked it.. I was in the mood for it.. and YES I think it’s creditworthy.

Part-time Lover is a keeper.

It began with a fantasy that ultimately changes the course of their destiny. Hot guy, intrigued girl and a hauntingly tempting visual began a bumpy road of twists and turns for two strangers. Part- Time Lover can make a believer out of even the most skeptic of romantics. From the beautiful backdrop to the witty dialogue and the heartwarming romance, Part-time Lover is a keeper.

🌟🌟 5 Stars 🌟🌟

I have to say this might be one of my favorite LB couples. Christian and Elise were so fun and sexy. They both were outgoing and spontaneous and the banter was perfection. I loved that Elise is a seriously vehement women who isn't shy at all. She is a little broken from her past but instead of letting that bring her down she was just more cautious. Christian was a great guy, he was funny, sweet and incredibly insightful. Then on top of all of that these two had mad chemistry!! In the very beginning when these two meet for the first time I was giggling because that had to be the most interesting way for a couple to meet that I've read before.

As always, my favorite thing about Lauren Blakely books is that the characters are mature and the drama is extremely low. No unnecessary drama added to give the story some excitement because her stories don't need it! I also loved that this felt like a second chance romance when actually it wasn't because there wasn't a first romance really.

The narration was great. Shane East has the best accent and he does great at balancing the humor and the sexy with his characters voice. Grace Grant was great too. Great casting in my opinion. I'm loving how much the author is changing up the narrators for her books so they stay fresh and don't all feel like the same characters.

LOVED it!

5 “Mermaid” Stars

Oh how I love and adore all things Lauren Blakely. <Sighs>

I love listening to audiobooks, especially when the narrators are good. The narrators for this book did a magnificent job. I swooned over the accents and admit I had a slight crush on both because of them lol.

The initial meeting between Elise and Christian is nothing shy of spectacular. Just ask her...she tooks pictures lol! While viewing the shores of Copenhagen with her friend, she spots an adonis doing naked yoga and handstands on a dock. After yelling “Bravo” for him, because he really is a fine specimen of man, he asks her out for a date. A slight misunderstanding on the place of meeting causes them to miss each other. So, imagine her surprise when a year later, fate puts them back in each other’s presence. The chemistry between these two is nothing short of combustible. I loved their witty banter, and I loved that they became friends first before anything else. After being so badly hurt before, Elise was living in her bubble of safety, and I loved how Christian brought her back into the world of living so to say.

Overall, this book was such a fun read and the narrators made it even better. If you love stories about second chances and fate stepping in, then you will love this one. It is chock full of all things Lauren Blakely is best known for.

When love sneaks up on you it’s simply amazing 💜

I’m a hopeless romantic who believes in fate 100%! This story is absolutely without a doubt a top listen for me. Lauren has such a way with words that I can’t help falling in love with her characters. I love the sexiness and sweetness of Christian’s character. Elise drove me crazy at first with her rules and guarded heart only because I wanted her to accept and realize what we all knew ... Christian is the real deal!

Grace Grant and Shane East were absolutely fantastic! I love their voices together. This audio is a little unique in that it’s dual, but you get a little duet in a few spots that make the audio much more enjoyable for the listener.

I without a doubt say YOU need to #oneclick this if you haven’t already right NOW!

Delicious!

What a delicious audiobook! Shane East and Grace Grant do a fantastic job narrating, but Shane East really shines as our hero, Christian. He really couldn't be more perfect in this fun and sexy marriage of convenience romance! Even if you've read the book, you'll still want to listen to this audio because it adds a whole other layer to the story and is truly a treat for your ears!

Christian and Elise are both driven and independent individuals. They each have some emotional baggage that has left them jaded about love. A chance encounter (or is it fate?) in Denmark throws them into each other's orbits, but a simple mistake keeps them from meeting until a year later in France. Christian and Elise have amazing chemistry from the start and I loved how understanding and supportive they were of each other. One of my favorite scenes was at the soccer field, when Elise came to watch Christian play. The sexual tension and build up was delicious and it intensified even the smallest touches and glances. Yes, their relationship starts out as instalust, but with time, the sexy banter and the push and pull gives way to true connection and emotion. Throw in a marriage of convenience trope to help the family of our hero, and you have a truly entertaining story! Fans of Lauren Blakely will not want to miss this newest standalone romance!

Please Note: The hero and heroine were introduced in the book Wanderlust, but Part-Time Lover can be enjoyed as a standalone.

SO GREAT!!!

Call it fate or chance, I’m so happy that I was able to pick this book up and listen to it. This story was so enjoyable and the narrators were fantastic. Christian and Elise are such a fun couple and their story is just as entertaining. It was a fairytale romance from their hilarious first meeting all the way to their happily ever after.

Both of the main characters have had trouble in their past relationships which has shaped how they look at possible new ones. Elise is a bit more guarded than Christian but he reads he so incredibly well. It was easy to connect with both of these characters. The narrators brought them to life in an amazingly engaging way.

I will be sure to read more of Lauren’s work in the future and listen to more books narrated by Shane East and Grace Grant. His voice draws you in and his accent makes you swoon hard!

Second Chances

So much LOVE! Thats what I have for this book! I mean talk about wrapping me up in a blanket of feels and humor while I bask in the glowing heat and all male swooning that is going on!
I listened to this book every chance I got!
In the car, at the store, whenever! It kept drawing me back in!
Two perfectly imperfect characters you could not help but love!
Narrators were spot on! I could not imagine anyone else for the parts!
This is one book I will most certainly listen to again!
