Özet

Stand by Me meets We Were Liars - a heartbreaking and stunning breakout YA novel from the author of Seed.

June's life at home with her stepmother and stepsister is a dark one - and a secret one. Not even her father knows about it. She's trapped like a butterfly in a net. But then she meets Blister, a boy in the woods. And in him June recognises the tiniest glimmer of hope that perhaps she can find a way to fly far, far away from home and be free. Because every creature in this world deserves their freedom...but at what price?

Paper Butterflies is an unforgettable listen, perfect for fans of James Dawson, Jandy Nelson, Sarah Crossan and Louise O'Neill.

Lisa Heathfield launched her writing career with Seed, her stunning YA debut about a cult. Paper Butterflies is her beautiful and heartbreaking second novel. Lisa lives in Brighton.

This book made me feel cute, happy, scared, angry, shocked, sad, hurt, tense, bittersweet and eventually it broke my heart. I see that as an honour to the author, through her exceptional writing she has produced such an amazing story.

I read this book a few years ago and decided to listen to it for my re-read. The narrator is amazing! She has voices and emotions for every single character, it really is an experience listening and I much preferred it to the actual book because of the amazing job the narrator did!

AMAZING NARRATOR!

The sentiment "At what point is a child to blame?" is heartbreaking, as is this book. But well written and thought provoking. Not an easy read and left me sad and uncomfortable. Beautiful moments interspersed with lots of misery. Not my usual sort of book.

Not enjoyable as too sad. But beautiful too
