After Earl’s bride vanishes in the Smoky Mountains on their honeymoon, the former navy SEAL is certain she’s been abducted. Worse, a storm has washed away any potential evidence, and with nothing to go on, the park rangers call off the official search. Then another woman disappears in the same area. Way betterThen I expected and I knew it would be g

With a Caucasian Navy seal named Earl goes to his local dentist for a toothache, he doesn’t expect to find the love of his life Monroe Whitman an African-American woman from Tennessee. Not only is he amazed at how smart she is but he is instantly in love and so six months later after dating he asked her to marry him. On the first morning of their honeymoon in the great Smoky Mountains he tells her he’s going to take a quick trip to the waterfalls nearby. She stayed near camp to start breakfast, but after a while it gets to the waterfalls he gets a bad feeling then here’s a mountain lion scream and he runs back to camp only to find his new bride and soulmate is gone… She was kidnapped. After a long search and the depletion of all his hopes and dreams he finally goes back to New Jersey Two months later he gets an anonymous letter telling him to go to this warehouse where he will see other men standing around and wondering what they were doing there a voice comes over a loudspeaker. The anonymous voice tells the group gathered that his daughter was taken in the mountains in Tennessee and that he wants to put together a mission because he has a very real lead. So when everyone is eventually introduced he finds out everyone is tactical or military specialty experience and after climbing onto a very sleek and expensive private plane they go to Tennessee. I won’t say more as I do not want to give any spoilers away but Earl is hesitant at first until the man whose daughter is missing tells them there was an African-American woman in the cabin where he thinks his daughter is. With Earls hope renewed He not only commits to the mission but knows if he doesn’t get Monroe back he would rather be dead. This book was so so good. I love Bill Briscoe‘s books as you know it is going to be filled with action and every now and again humor which I appreciate in such a serious book. This book is so worth the credit and I highly recommend it.

Great story! Highly recommend!

Panic Point is a terrific story about a former Navy Seal, Earl, who takes his new bride, Morgan, on a camping trip for their honeymoon. The joy quickly comes to an end when Morgan is abducted from their tent. Earl spends the rest of the book searching for Morgan and her kidnappers.
The story is intense, action-packed, tender, and playful at times. Fast-paced, with interesting characters.
I have both the kindle and the audiobook of Panic Point and was concerned that the narration might not capture the emotion (I'm picky) but I was thrilled with the narration of the audiobook.

First Class Writing And Memorable

This book filled with powerful imagery and evocative language which allows the listener to experience the world as the main character knows it. It is so vivid that that the listener understands the story moment by moment in an extremely personal way. The colorful language is in no way crude or vulgar -- rather it's almost poetic and memorable.

So happy to see this book on Audible

Great story. It captured me from the first chapter in the Smoky Mountains. I appreciate the research the author did with the terms pertaining to the special ops scenes and the courtroom scenes. And, the narration by Steve Rausch made the already believable characters come alive. I’m happy to see this book on Audible and I'm hoping the author adds his other books too.

Action with suspense

In Bill Briscoe's Panic Point (the 2nd book of the Pepperman Mystery series), Jim Pepperman is not the main character. Instead the focus is on Earl Helmsley. As newlyweds, Earl and his bride are camping in the Smokey Mountains. When his bride disappears, his life spins out of control. When his life seems completely hopeless, there is a knock on the door. Earl is offered another chance to find his wife. If you like action adventure with suspense added in, this is an Audible book for you. The narrator, Steve Rausch, pulls you into the story and let’s you share the experience.

new author

Story was good but could have been longer. I was happy it went into some of the court action instead of just ending.

Fast paced and way too plausible

This is one of those books that is truly frightening because all of the most horrible parts are just too plausible.

I liked the plot and the premise. It got a big over the top once or twice, but those times increased the pace and the action.

The most memorable part though was the characters’ frustration and helplessness in the face of “the system”. Chilling.

Overall, a solid listen — but not just before a camping trip.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.
