Summary
A killer is loose aboard a Virginia class submarine, and it's a race against time for Captain Russell Grant to find him. With the USS Obama on a war footing, Captain Russell Grant takes extraordinary measures to pin down the murderer before morale plummets aboard and his mission is scuppered beyond repair. He promotes a female member of the crew to chief warrant officer, and she's soon joined in her investigation by two federal agents specially flown out to examine the circumstances.
Things take a turn for the worse when one of the agents is also killed, and razor sharp tension surfaces between Captain Grant and Agent Frank Waters. Tensions also arise as the submarine is placed on a war footing with the Chinese and the Koreans, and it's all Grant can do to keep a lid on things before matters implode beyond repair.

Enjoyed
I enjoyed listening to Don Moretti. This book is short but holds a punch. You have a submarine going on a mission because of a situation between the United States and North Korea, as the world was teetering on the brink of a nuclear exchange . Not just having to deal with the mission, they have a murderer among their ranks, with no one sure when the next killing will or could take place, and the motive. With all this the crew’s morale is taken to the limit.

USS Obama....Really!
Okay first off I think the story was descent...But no way USS Obama, it's pretty obvious Obama is a hero to the author...I don't think Obama would ever get a United States ship named after him, especially after all his failed policies , especially after he decimated our military after 8 years of failed military policies... This can all be fact checked. But like I said earlier the story is good, I just had to block out every time I heard the words USS Obama.. Don Moretti did a fine job of narrating. I received this audiobook for free in a promo, And this is my voluntary and honest unbiased review.

A good book for you.
As I listened to Pacific Deep, I kept zoning out. Not necessarily due to the book itself, but more to do with the narrator. The narrator has a sing song type of reading. The tone is the same throughout the reading and the 5 or 6 beat reading and then there is what is almost like a slight pause. It creates a rhythm that nearly put me to sleep. The narrator's tone stayed pretty much the same throughout the reading. There wasn't a change for different characters. Bottom line is that he just read the book to you.

Good overall
Narrator was somewhat flat, but it fit with the mood if the story. Premise was interesting, but not executed well. The love spark was not at all believable and felt forced and unnecessary for the storyline - almost like an afterthought.

Killer aboard a Submarine.
Not a bad short story. Keeps the reader guessing until the end who the killer is. I think it could have been a little longer.

A who dunnit aboard a sub
Pacific Deeps. A great novella absolutely gripping. Wished it was longer. Great entertainment. I've been a bit harsh with my star ratings - overall could have been a 4 * if the book concentrated on the murder and detection. Narration is 1st class. I received a free copy of this audio book at my own request and voluntarily leave this review.
