Özet

Read by the author, JoJo.

She's stronger than she's ever been. From shooting to worldwide fame as a teenager to processing mental health, addiction and trauma, Over the Influence is the breathtakingly candid memoir from pop icon JoJo.

'One-of-a-kind' – Vogue

‘I just needed something to take me out of my mind. And the pattern of telling myself I was going to stop but not being able to eroded any sliver of self-trust I still had . . . I felt ashamed. I couldn’t get over this idea that I was letting everyone down.’

Holding nothing back, JoJo shares her against-the-odds story of adversity and resilience, from being raised by parents who were both battling addiction and depression to the seven-year law suit she found herself locked in with her label, to eventually finding the strength to put the fragmented pieces of herself back together after a period of rebellion and self-betrayal. Over the Influence invites readers on a journey of self-redemption to discover what it truly means to find yourself.

A remarkably compassionate portrait . . . that's bolstered by fastidious journal entries [JoJo's] kept throughout her life . . . JoJo is back in control
Raw and unfiltered . . . [a] deeply personal perspective on how she learned to reclaim her power, both as an artist and a woman . . . With this new chapter, JoJo continues to inspire with her authenticity – reminding us all that it's okay to fall apart and put yourself back together

As a fan, I wanted to hear Joanna's story in her own words. This book is truly heartbreaking, inspiring and uplifting all at once, I have not been able to stop listening! Thank you Jo for giving us a raw and honest look behind the curtain of the music industry and your life. ❤️🍀

Joanna is a force stronger than she realises in this sometimes sad, sometimes happy rollercoaster. Even for someone who follows her career, the revelations strike deeper notes because they're told from her perspective. I'm so happy that she was brave enough to let us in this way. Congratulations Jo on a job superbly done.

Such a deep, emotive and raw listen on her journey spanning over 3 decades. This book proves JoJo truly has the natural gifts and charisma to take her wherever she wants and is far from a one-trick pony. Singer/singwriter, actor, thespian and now a NYT BEST SELLING AUTHOR! Cannot wait to see what her next project shapes up to be.

She is the moment 🍀

This was a great listen and an insight into life as a young artist in the early 2000s affected by substance abuse and the dynamics of the music industry.

Brutally honest memoir
