Summary

The next chapter in the extraordinary history of the star Wars galaxy begins here...

After a violent civil war and the devastation wrought by the now-fallen Darth Caedus, the Galactic Alliance is in crisis - and in need. From all corners, politicians, power brokers, and military leaders converge on Coruscant for a crucial summit to restore order, negotiate differences, and determine the future of their unified worlds. But even more critical, and far more uncertain, is the future of the Jedi.

In a shocking move, Chief of State Natasi Daala orders the arrest of Luke Skywalker for failing to prevent Jacen Solo’s turn to the dark side and his subsequent reign of terror as a Sith Lord. But it’s only the first blow in an anti-Jedi backlash fueled by a hostile government and suspicious public. When Jedi Knight Valin Horn, scion of a politically influential family, suffers a mysterious psychotic break and becomes a dangerous fugitive, the Jedi become the target of a media-driven witch hunt. Facing conviction on the damning charges, Luke must strike a bargain with the calculating Daala: his freedom in exchange for his exile from Coruscant and from the Jedi Order.

Though forbidden to intervene in Jedi affairs, Luke is determined to keep history from being repeated. With his son, Ben, at his side, Luke sets out to unravel the shocking truth behind Jacen Solo’s corruption and downfall. But the secrets he uncovers among the enigmatic Force mystics of the distant world Dorin may bring his quest - and life as he knows it - to a sudden end. And all the while, another Jedi Knight, consumed by the same madness as Valin Horn, is headed for Coruscant on a fearsome mission that could doom the Jedi Order...and devastate the entire galaxy.

Good fun.

I enjoyed this book and found it good fun and an enjoyable listen. I liked the scenes between Luke and Ben and for me that made the book. The other two strands of the story were ok but I felt the Han and Leia storyline was put in there just to give them something to do but overall I like hearing about them so it's not a major gripe. This book is obviously setting the scene for a major story arc and I look forward to the other books in the arc. Overall a nice fun book. The audio quality and reading was really exellent.

Brilliant!

A slow but sturdy start to The Fate of the Jedi Series. Marc brings everything to his performance, keeping the Star Wars alive and true to its roots.

My worst audiobook so far.

I dont understand why so many good reviews. This was by far the worst star wars audiobook ive listened to and compared to the likes of "kenobi" or "master and apprentice" it was down right poor! There were still enjoyable moments but they were very few and far between. I also felt it didnt tie in well with other star wars stories - all the jedi (who are supposed to be celibate) suddenly have kids/boyfriends and girlfriends; it was like some trashy tv soap - "star wars meets eastenders".

The recital was performed well and in my opinion admirably, with the tedious plot. My only issue with the reading was the voice of the young characters, really poor and whinny. Then again when the writer scribbles down a whinny, overtly generic teen as a sorry excuse for poor penmanship you work with what youre given!

Builds on strong points of previous story

this is a strong start to hopefully what is a very good story .which builds on many of the strong points from the previous series of books developing the Ben Skywalker character as well as Luke Skywalker.
