Summary

Christopher Yuan, the son of Chinese immigrants, discovered at an early age that he was different. He was attracted to other boys. As he grew into adulthood, his mother, Angela, hoped to control the situation. Instead she found that her son and her life were spiraling out of control - and her own personal demons were determined to defeat her.

Years of heartbreak, confusion, and prayer followed before the Yuans found a place of complete surrender, which is God's desire for all families. Their amazing story, told from the perspectives of both mother and son, offers hope for anyone affected by homosexuality.

Great book!

I could not stop listening! It’s a great book of redemption. I loved hearing both testimonies of mother and son. At times it was hard listening to Christopher’s graphic description of his lifestyle but I loved his honesty and I think it was necessary to hear it. Hearing it gave me an idea of how low he had gone. I highly recommend this book.

Powerful

The most surprising quality of this book is Christopher and Mrs. Yuan’s honest and unapologetic recounting of a life powerfully, shockingly, unexpectedly transformed. Its raw and explicit retrospection bares the core of their souls. It gives insight into cultural clashes, identity misplacement and the final place of deepest contentment. Their journey speaks to the misunderstandings that may be present within both the LGBTQ and Christian communities and lays a truthful Biblical understanding of human sexuality. Anybody who is willing to seek understanding on this social issue ought to begin by listening to this book.

Amazing Story of Transformation

I really loved how this story was laid out. Switching between the two people on opposite parallel paths. Though the jumps in time can be confusing at times. That's my only issue. Also his life before Christ is pretty explicit even tho he avoids saying certain words. Still you get the idea and it can be pretty disturbing to hear. Worth it in the end tho

Full of Reality And Redemption

Very well written and performed and captures the heart of a mother and a prodigal that could apply across so many areas. Both had much to learn in their journeys but God’s healing love for them both is the overall theme that knits each moment together.
