Summary

The leader of one of South Florida's most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs has been put to death by lethal injection. Days later, his family and friends should be picking up the pieces, moving on. Instead they've been catapulted into a world so twisted and dangerous that even the most ruthless among them would be stunned to discover the tangled web of deception not only on the dangerous streets of South Florida but all the way to the top.

In this gripping follow-up novel to Nine Minutes, Beth Flynn takes listeners from the sun-drenched flatlands of 1950s Central Florida to the vivid tropical heat of Fort Lauderdale to the halls of Florida's death row as we finally learn the gritty backstory of Jason "Grizz" Talbot and the secret he spent his life trying to conceal.

Utterly Brilliant

If you were thinking Nine Minutes was a one off, you were wrong. The story continues as do the twists and turns and of course the secrets and lies. Will the truth come out. Well you just need to read and find out. Loved this as much as the first on. Am looking forward to diving into A Gift of Time. Beth I think I will be squeezing you harder next time ❤️

Best trilogy ever

Loved the twists and turns. Normally order dual narration but this narrator does an excellent job with each character. Hope she writes more novels soon.

How not to write a sequel

I was so looking forward the the second book . The first book, nine minutes is one of the best books that I have read. It was thought provoking because none of the characters were appealing although the story was riveting. This book could have worked if the author had decided to re tell the story through a couple of other characters eyes. Unfortunately the decision to jump around the time line with so many people using an ' it made me remember when' technique was not only unsuccessful but also confusing and irritating. I have also taken a dislike to the female lead who really needs a good shaking. Such a pity. The second book needs to be simplified as there are too many twists and the story has now become implausible to say the least

Fantastic - loved the performance

I've been putting off reading this book for a while as I heard it was a cliffie, and I try not to intentionally do cliffhangers. That said, it was been burning a hole in my tbr and I finally relented. Thank goodness I did! I really really enjoyed book 1, Nine Minutes, and this book runs parallel with Nine Minutes. Following the dramatic ending in book 1, we see the aftermath of the revelations, and book 2 answers many questions, we have a greater insight into Tommy 'Grunt' and his past. I to Grizz and his past and into the events that happened before, during and after Ginning's kidnapping. We hear the story of Nine Minutes from the 1950's when Grizz was a young boy, through to 2000 after the time that Grizz was executed, all from the perspectives of Griff, Grunt, Ginny, Mo and the Authorities, along with a few more people involved along the way. This book answers so many questions and outs light on so many of the happiness surrounding Grizz, it does however leave you asking a few more. I am so looking forward to reading book 3, A Gift of Time, I just hope I'm not going to be a blubbering mess whilst doing so.

I KNEW IT...I KNEW IT...I KNEW IT!

Through the first book and this book I kept hoping....then BOOM!
I KNEW IT....I KNEW IT...I KNEW IT!

This is NOT a stand alone. You MUST listen to Nine Minutes first.

This is a gritty, violent, sick love story GRIZZ style.

Monique Makena gives a great performance. Absolutely with a credit or $$.

Beth Flynn is an extremely talented writer. The detail and intertwining of this book with Nine Minutes takes an intelligent and complicated mind.

LOVE!! And you will too.

What made the experience of listening to Out of Time the most enjoyable?

You feel like you are getting so many answers to lingering questions and then you realize you have so many new questions too. Holds my interest like no other book in recent memory.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Out of Time?

The relief of the result from the Nine Minutes cliffhanger!!

Have you listened to any of Monique Makena’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only in Nine Minutes and she gives another amazing performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes and yes. It's not exactly a laugh out loud kind of book- but I definitely smiled, teared up, and everything in between.

Any additional comments?

I feel like this series can hold the attention of so many different genre readers.

4 Out of Time Stars

Hmmm I am still on the fence of whether I liked it or loved it. Grizz and the flashbacks and getting his story really helped me to see him in a different light.

I am a Grunt/Tommy fan and I have been right from the beginning and all the surprises we find out about in this book still makes me love Grunt as much.

I am a huge Kit/Ginnie fan but I had to stop listening for a bit because I didn’t like the way she was handling things and I didn’t want to not like her. But after getting some clarity from a friend I started it back up again and loved it.

Now the ending I am kind of annoyed with not because of how it ended just because of the events that are going to come in to play. I don’t know when you accept one thing and then poof you have to learn to accept something else I don’t know just makes me go hmmm.

I liked the narration but I didn’t love it this time it sounded like the someone had a stuffed nose then she didn’t so I don’t know if that was mean to happen or what but it threw me off just a little. But overall it was good.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I have no words

I have nothing to say except this: LISTEN TO THIS SERIES NOW! Absolutely fantastic. I do not ever physically read books, but I will be making an exception for the third book in this series since it isn't in audio. It's already downloaded. Off I go to read.

All Over the Place

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book wasn't bad. It was well written and well narrated. BUT the story itself was all over the place. It jumped from past to present, jumped from one character's point of view to another and just overall became a bit hard (and irritating) to follow. I kept having to stop and work out what was going on now and who the character was.
I also found all of the characters to be deceitful, self serving, purposefully naïve and generally unlikable.
*** Spoiler Alert*** In particular, I came to find Tommy really repulsive. He was so deceitful and manipulative and as he came clean with Ginny, I could not believe that not only did she stay with Tommy, she fell in love with him all over again. It was sick. I hated that the author tried to portray this as a beautiful, tragic love story. Please.
Then the last 2 hours just made me roll my eyes and think "Yep, I've had enough of this BS."

What was most disappointing about Beth Flynn’s story?

See above.

What does Monique Makena bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Monique Makena is a wonderful narrator and she did a fantastic job on this book.

Do you think Out of Time needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. I've had enough of these pathetic people already.

TOO MUCH!

This book ,no , both books are filled with some of the sickest people. Everybody in them was mentally ill & morally bankrupt & not just a little bit. full blown crazy. Add crazy & evil & you get this mess. Grizz was EVIL , he knew it & he owned it. Jenny was no saint. Her christianty appeared & disappeared when it suited her. Her sweet & innocent act got old quick. Some of her supposed friends turned out to be more evil than Grizz ever thought about being. I saw no love in this crap, just sick obsession, pedophilia, kidnaping, rape & murder. I plan to listen to the last book so I can see if the author can fix this mess.

Insanely compelling!

I simply couldn't put this down. This is my second time through this series and I and still finding things I missed and loving the series. Grizz, Kitt and Grunt have a story I adored. The story keeps unfolding and I can't get enough! Phenomenal writing and a fine narration too.

Book 2 in the trilogy

The Nine Minutes trilogy continues. Yes you do need to read/listen to Nine Minutes first or this book will make very little sense. Beth Flynn keeps the secrets comings in this book. It answers a lot of questions that book 1 hit on but never went into.
This book bounces around the time before during and after Grizz's execution. You learn lots of things that went on that Jenny (Kit) never knew. There is also a huge secret that kind of shocked me, as well as a few other secrets that come out.
Most of this book takes place 25 years after Jenny's abduction, right after the execution, but it's also a trip down memory lane. Mimi is the the baby Jenny was pregnant with when Grizz was arrested. She is now 15. Jenny and Tommy (Grunt) are married, and they have a son together Jason, named after Grizz.
I am starting book 3 now. There is no way you can start this series and not finish it. There are still questions from book 1 and now questions from this book I need answers to. I still feel like this book could be a Non Fiction Memoir. It is so well written and Monique Makena does an excellent job with her narration. She makes this story even more believable.

excellent series!

I have definitely fallen in love with this series! the first book was good, but the second book.... Wow. I m finding it difficult to articulate the why's, but when all the secrets start pouring out and all the stuff with the NNG... pretty fascinating! starting the 3rd book now and looking forward to it even if I'm not thrilled that it's the series end.
