Summary
There are lots of things that ran in families, but murder wasn't one of them....
When a teenage joyrider crashes a stolen car and ends up in a coma, a routine DNA test could be the key to unlocking the mystery of a 20-year-old murder inquiry.

a few loose ends
Enjoyed this but felt it ended a bit abruptly. I was a bit perplexed when the narrator said it was the epilogue as I thought there were still a few loose ends to be tied off within the main story.

Val McDermid, nuff said
Cannot go wrong. Consistently good quality - genuine strong characters, original believable stories and quality writing. Add to this a top quality narration and you have a satisfying and enjoyable listen.

Great pacy interconnected storyline

Cathleen's performance is right on the money. She created the characters in a few changes of accent and nuance and had plenty of variety in her delivery.

This is a book about three seemingly unconnected crimes and a chance encounter that all impact each other in intriguing ways. It is written and performed with excellent pace and appropriate levels of detail to paint a terrific picture of Scottish Law enforcement. The feminists out there will love the fact that all the strong characters are all women. Loved every moment of it.

Loved it
Well written, good characters, and keeps you guessing. Very enjoyable all round who dunnit weaving cases together. I love books which can conjour up places and people in your imagination.

Another great story from Val McDermid
No t as grim as usual a very interesting story set in Dundee. Beautifully narrated by Cathleen Mc Carron. I will certainly read more of this series.

Outstanding!
A really interesting listen, three stories which became interlinked. Loved the interaction between Karin and "Mint", their humour highlighted an otherwise serious tale of intrigue and murder. I look forward to the next one in the series.
