Summary
This is fecking serious, so it is!
Bishop's Point is about to face its biggest crisis since the distempered badgers attacked. Father O'Riley and Father O'Malley are all that stand in the devil's way. The forces of Hell descend upon the sleepy Irish town en masse, but they were not expecting the good fathers to lead a rebellion against them.

Brilliant just brilliant
This is the funniest book I have listened to for ages. 2 priests and 3 other idiots save the world from the apocalypse with the aid of a candle snuffer outer, a handbag and a milk float. This book pokes fun at everything from religion to political correctness to Star Wars. Its rude, its hilarious, its fabulous. The narration is an absolute joy, a stellar performance from Justin Mills. There are even sound effects. The dialogue is laugh out loud funny, I got some very strange looks on the bus. The characters are suitably idiotic, I mean to start the apocalypse trying to curse your neighbours goat but reading the wrong curse because you cannot read Latin, sets the tone for the entire book. I really like Simon Carr's work and this is up there with the best. I received a complimentary copy of the audio from the author and am leaving a honest voluntary review.

humour
One day a farmer from Bishop's Point, decides to read an incantation from and old dusty book in the local library and because of this a dark spell releases Satan from Hell.
Now two priests Father O'Riley a natural demon fighter and Father O'Malley, with the help of locals from Bishop's Point they fight the devil and his demons off. As Satan has decided to make Bishop's Point his home.
I laughed out loud and had to keep listening and reading this book. Lesson do not read Latin out loud from an old book ever.
Loved the narration of Justin Mills, I could hear the humour .

Non stop sniggers
A wonderfully farcical tale that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. If you're a fan of Father Ted you will recognise the countless homages paid to the show throughout the book.
Justin Mills narration is top notch, you can tell he had great fun producing it. I was particularly amused by his use of spoken sound effects which adds even more to the humour of this already funny book.
All in all if you need a laugh at the end of a busy day you cannot go wrong with "Our Fathers".

A devilishly funny tale
The Gates to Hell have been opened in the tiny Irish town of Bishop’s Point. Father O'Riley and Father O'Malley are the only hope of saving the town from the diabolic horde.
Another masterpiece from the maelstrom of ideas residing in the head of Simon Carr. As always there are so many hilarious bits of dialog that make most of Mr Carr’s work unsuitable for reading on public transport – Oh! The looks you get from the other passengers when you look like you’re in the middle of a medical emergency.
The only thing that could be improved with the audiobook would be a more authentic range of Irish accents from the narrator

The best simon carr yet
This was amazing. It’s like father ted meets poltergeist with a sprinkling of Shaun of the dead. I loved this. I think this is my favourite simon carr book so far. The humour in this is brilliant. The narrator absolutely nailed this

Hysterical!
Very reminiscent of Monty Python. The narrator brought the story to life with his characters, accents and sound effects. Perfect combo!

Good story and great narration
The story is very funny. Very reminiscent of Monty Python and the Holy Grail meets a Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movie. Narration was very well done with the varying voices and sound effects. Highly recommend!

Monty Python meets Army of Darkness
This book is silly. Really silly. I think there are more jokes per minute in this book than in most Terry Pratchett books. I can’t really summarize it. There’s just no way to do it. Suffice it that there are two priests trying to save the world. Without going insane in the process. The jokes fly, the ending comes, and then there’s more. And more. Seriously I thought my download skipped, but it’s another joke. I will say the background gags were a bit distracting. I mean, someone doesn’t have to say “moo” every time you mention the feral cows.( “Moo!” ) Anyway, it’s a worthwhile story, and the narration is excellent. This was a free review copy, and this was an unbiased review. Just watch out for the badgers.

I kept laughing throughout!!
The entire book was wonderfully hilarious, but the Narrator is completely what makes this so much more so. This will be my go to book whenever I need a good belly laugh.

Bizarre
Straight up bizarre but funny. It's like a 12 year old mixed up Bill & Ted's Adventure, Little Nicky & OH God You Devil. Reasonably appropriate but some cursing. Overall a funny listen.

Entertaining story of goblins, mad cows, etc and the non wizards that are to fix the situation. Irreverant and funny! Justin Mills was a terrific narrator! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

celtic ride
It is a wild ride to listen to this amazing audio rendition of Our Fathers. I listened in amazement to an unusual congruence of humor and what is actually an intriguing story. An unexpected side benefit of it was from the reader's Irish brogue. I have relatives from Cork, Ireland for whom I played a bit of the story and the dialogue had them in stitches, also. Aye to be sure now, I have to recommend the audio version for its amazing rendition.

Too cartoonish
I received a free review copy of this audio book, at my request, and am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.
I thought this was going to be a cross between Father Ted and Shane of the Dead. Unfortunately, it's more like a mix of Father Ted and Looney Toons.
The story starts out like a typical episode of Father Ted. Dim witted priests in a small town, hill Billy townspeople and slightly exaggerated but normalish problems. Instead of a flawed straight man and an idiot, like father Ted, we have 2 characters who are about the same and interchangeable, and are a mix of the straight man and idiot. The characters MIGHT work if they both didn't refer to each other as "Father" in every single line of dialog. I know it's supposed to be a repetitive to the extreme kind of funny, but it doesn't work.
The characters and places don't stand out, either. It's a short story, about 4 hours long, so I don't expect super complex characters and wild settings. But it's a little too cookie cutter. Idiot #1 and 2, their grown sons (idiots #3 and 4) missterotyped minority #1, etc. Stock character that are often popped in for a comedy.
The issue with this book, for me, is it wasn't funny. It tries too hard to be funny and in the end just ends up being lame. There are a few moments where I was laughing, but for the most part I felt like Gram Chapman's army officer character from Monty Python saying "stop that! It's silly!" there was nothing believable about the plot. Not the super natural/God/devil part. But the creatures, the action, the dialog, etc, it all felt like it came straight out of a cartoon. There is no excapism in this, as it is basically impossible to put myself in any of these situations, they are all so absurd.
The voice narration, by Justin Mills was only OK. He did a great job with Irish accents, but why the author didn't pick an Irish actor is odd. The plot takes place in Ireland, with Irish characters, and to have all the character speaking in accent and the narrator having a North American accent, was odd. The narrator, himself, was fine. As mentioned he could do an Irish enough accent, and had enough voices for the characters. The delivery was a little forced and didn't feel natural, but overall it was OK.
All in all, I did not enjoy this book. The comedy was so over the top it wasn't funny anymore. This story is just silly and doesn't feel natural in any way. The narrator did an OK job, but was the wrong pick for this work.

Hilarious
Another fantastically hilarious book from Simon Carr. This one follows Father O'Malley and Father O'Riley who find out the hard way that not all books in a parish are safe to read. In their case, one such book is discovered and a local farmer ends up reading an incantation from it which opens up a portal to Hell.
What happens next is like Monty Python meets Hot Fuzz meets the Catholic Church, and though it shouldn't, it works! It absolutely works.
One thing that I will say is that, like Shakesperean plays, this is a book that absolutely should be heard instead of read. Justin Mills gives a wonderful performance for the audiobook, and I was laughing throughout the book. I've seen a few reviews from individuals who read the book and I think had they listened to it, they would have had a much better experience. I can say this from experience; the first book from this author that I experienced was Noobs. I read it and, while I liked it, it was difficult to read - it was difficult to follow the dialogue because it wasn't punctuated in the typical manner, the punctuation was sometimes off, and there were some typos that would take me out of the book. However, because I kept seeing raving reviews, I gave the audiobook a shot and that was when I discovered that Simon Carr's books are absolutely meant to be listened to rather than read. Since then, whenever I get a Simon Carr book, I make sure to get the audiobook. I have not been disappointed.
So, long story short, this book is awesome and you should definitely listen to it.
