About this listen

Two weeks in a boathouse on the edge of peaceful Lake Orta, Italy is exactly what Ginny and Adam Trustlove need. But twenty-four hours later, the silence is broken when the Sale family arrives. It doesn't take long for Ginny and Adam to be drawn in, especially when the teenage Pippi introduces her beguiling new friend Zach. Not one of them suspects that his arrival in their lives might be anything other than accidental...

Ok story but why did the narrator speak in such a wet, pathetic manner, ruined it for me

Dreadful narrator

After reading another (more recent) title from the author which I liked, this book left me underwhelmed and a little disappointed. A lot of drama but not much of an interesting storyline in my opinion. The narrator wasn't particularly enjoyable either, though she performed male characters quite well - just not to my taste.

Underwhelming

Not as engaging as some of the author's other works. Difficult to stay with the story to the end.

Average

I found the settings and characters intriguing and was driven to find out their secrets.

Rather too many themes going on but I felt the theme of grief and the personal isolation caused by trauma was particularly moving. The description of the holiday location was well written and I could picture the lake, villa and boat house and feel the biting rain.

My criticism would be that it did seem a very long tale and the narrator was inconsistent with some of her character voices and her straight narration seemed to drop the R.P. voice at times.

Great setting with clearly defined characters

Good story, very well written - thought the narrator was perfect. This is the first book I've listened to by this author, will definitely read more.

Loved this
