Summary

Do you need my help?
It was always the first question he asked.
They called him when they had nowhere else to turn.

Raised and trained as part of a top-secret programme, he was sent to the worst places in the world to do things his government denied any knowledge of.

Then he broke with the programme and disappeared. But now someone's on his tail. Someone who knows he was once known simply as Orphan X.

wow, Orphan X is very good...

Any additional comments?

An excellent vigilante / government conspiracy thriller. Wasn't sure I'd enjoy this given its not my preferred genre, however I found it very gripping, and really didn't want to put it down.
Once again Scott Brick turns in a flawless performance.
I'll be looking out for more Hurwitz stories for sure.

Gripping and Entertaining

This is one of those books where you can’t stop listening and yet you don’t want it to end. Thank goodness there’s a book 2 and 3......

Well performed, exciting story. Sometimes silly

Scott Brick does a top flight performance. Clear voice with differentiated characters. Nicely paced. A pleasure to listen to.

The story is your typical mystery-man hero with special forces/secret agency background. There are dozens out there. The reader knows what to expect.

Hurwitz has created the Orphan Programme. A government scheme to train suitable unwanted children as assassins. Evan is one such but became disconnected from when his handler and only contact died. For the least few years he has been performing good deeds like every other loner hero. Now he has come up against a daunting foe.

Hurwitz creates a sense of realism by product paving equipment. A trick used by I an Fleming. His explanation of world martial arts gives a lively feel of to the fight scenes.

One silly bit was some of of the outre electronic. Another was Evans finances..siphoned off from government funds, it gives a luxurious lifestyle. Another trope of loner heroes since The Saint. An above reasonable number of of the accidental encounter with hoods needing to be taught a lesson. But get past that and you have another engrossing story.

Bond meets hitman

Nice steady build to the plot which has you playing who do what..
its a nice steady listen the narrator does a good enough job throughout never wanting to over load with rapid fire script even during the action scenes.
over all its one id recommend to friends who enjoy this type of book. I certainly enjoyed it and look forward to listening to more of the series soon.

Strong character and storylinr

Only negative is that the narrators world weary delivery started to grate a little. The book itself and character was interesting

A great listen

Not what I expected at all, far better! A great suspenseful story from start to end. The narrator is excellent, a lovely smooth read. Definitely going to get the follow-up.
