Origin

This is not a light hearted happy hero story, this is a deep and dark story, one that follows along with the likes of Batman, or Dare Devil .This is a great audio book of a young man who gets a gift, but struggles with how to use it.

An electric Superhero is born!

Nice book about the rise of a new superhero. As with any new series, the first part is setup with the second being the take down.

Well read & moved at a nice pace.

Fantastic Story

This story sounded familiar at first and I finally realized that the premise is similar to a video game called Infamous that I played years ago. This story is very well written and flawlessly narrated. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment.

Great Origin Story

Origin is the appropriately named first book in the story of Fuse the superhero. The story takes place in fictional Olympia and tells the story of Ethan Pierce getting electrocuted and waking up to discover he's become a walking power plant who can shoot lightning from his body. In the process of recovering, he and his girlfriend become the target of the local mob family that secretly runs Olympia.

Origin is a great start to this series. I got a strong Batman vibe with a young hero battling the mob that plagues his home city while trying to figure out how to become the superhero the city needs. As with most origin stories, there's some slow spots in the story as Ethan comes to grips with his new condition and learns how to use them to his advantage. There's a lot to like, though, with a hero who is determined to see justice prevail while struggling with his morals. This story feels somewhat realistic with its dark and gritty roots as you'd expect from a story dealing with the mob.

Overall, I really like Origin. I'm a big fan of the superhero genre in general and I think Fuse fits in there well. There's not a lot of new things in this story as origin superhero stories are fairly common in this day, but there's enough differences to make the story enjoyable. The side characters are interesting enough, although Dean has the potential to really add a wrinkle or two to this series going forward.

Nicholas Dunker does a great job with the narration. He handles the main character well and does a good job with the side characters. Some of the side characters are a little too similar in sound to the main character and a time or two, I had to think about who was talking at that moment, but nothing that really took me out of the story for long.

Surprisingly deep and dark. I loved it!

The story follows a tech geek guy named Ethan Pierce who unexpectedly gains superpowers. I was surprised at how dark and deep this was, with a criminal underbelly to rival the likes of Gotham city.

An Enjoyable Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, and found it very entertaining. One strike of lightning or one moment in the wrong place can change your life forever, as Ethan discovers . His very normal life is turned upside down and his goals change drastically as he learns to control his new powers. This tale is filled with interesting characters, suspense, lots of action and some humour, making it very enjoyable. I wasn't expecting it to end the way it did, so I'm looking forward to Book 2.

Started off as a good story but went down hill.

The recorded performance was very well executed. There were some places where the sound did cut out slightly or lower.

As for the story. There are two points where some actions did not make sense. The first was when the main character nodded to the person he was talking to on the phone. second was when an elevator ride up 70+ floors took less than a minute. I'm sorry but no elevator is that fast.

That brings me to the main character. He started out strong and degraded into someone I no longer cared about by the end of the story. This is a point of inverse improvement.

The other story points were great but the main character ruined the story for me by the end and I was left feeling disappointed.

Interesting Superhero Story

I found this audible book to be very interesting and having a few surprises, especially at the end. With the twists and turns of an IT guy who has extra power and than combined with a new girlfriend and the Mafia, the story was awesome and I am looking forward to the next book. The story was well written and kept my interest throughout.

Not your average super hero

This is the first book by this author that I have read, or well listened to and I must say that the characters and world building are very entertaining. The rise of a new super hero surrounded by suspense and a ton of action made it enjoyable. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review
