Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Brilliantly written plot that is unfolding drama
Brilliantly written plot that is unfolding as drama of the characters grow into the horror of warfare and turns through the characters next experience with this. War affects all who fight in ways civilians have not encountered it changes your life and takes you year's to recover from the sights and smells of contact with the enemy its not a video game its terror and shock of emotional overload. Then luck in still standing at the end this book takes you to a place where few go and I are it understands why we fight you do not have to

what happened? TGIF! HAS NEW MEANING
story reverted just when it was getting better in the last book. Geez! Smart leader turns into impulsive overemotional bird brain? Not once but 2 or 3 times? And doesn't get demoted, just his bosses keep getting knocked off. And his friends. No biggie.
plot was disjointed, characters out of character, &/or too cookie cutter, stereotypical, predictable with no rhyme or reason.
Real let down just when Id finally gotten my hopes up!
Did his cat write some of this for him? Arrrghhh!
TGIF! (Thank Goodness It's Free!)
TGIF will never have the same meaning again. It will forever be adopted into the lexicon of book reviews!!

Inconsistent but great nonetheless
I really like this series. Sadly it seems the author is not producing more audio books. Otherwise I would look into even more from him. There are times in this story where it almost seems to be two or three different authors. It just feels different in places. There are things brought up that then don’t seem to really have an emotional conclusion. Characterization that is off.. Lots of dangling bits here and there. That being said, I have liked this whole series, it is very very recommended, and off to the fourth and last book in the series.

Starts off Good!
Very hard to follow. The story line is understood. However, the story is soo complex and hard to follow. Having to re-listen to sections just to "try" to figure out who was who. Difficult at best. The main Character "Lance" has been becoming more and more vague. Often not in the story for long periods of time. Disapointing...
