Summary
The Earth is changing. The alien invasion brought social upheaval, advanced technology, and an armada of peacekeeping robots. But Alan, a college student pursuing a now-useless degree, cares little about all of this. He has only one thing on his mind: the Game.
A fully immersive virtual reality, the Game appears to be a major part of the invading civilization. Alan can't wait to play, recklessly diving into the digital universe. Soon though, Alan realizes the Game is anything but simple, and the stakes are higher than he ever imagined.

wow
totally engrossed with this story. really hated the fact it ended.
the narrator was a master in bringing each character and their experiences to life. Can't wait for the next book

Everyone who enjoys action/adventure should read this, great fun. It was exiting, thrilling and intriguing. Maybe one of my favorite books.

Brilliant, futuristic, VR, Sci-fi masterpiece
What made the experience of listening to Opening Moves the most enjoyable?
Love the freedom that a VR meets Aliens storyline gives the author - basically anything can happen and quite often does. Excellently narrated as well, Nick Podehl seamlessly transfers between characters of different nationalities and genders

Virtual Reality meets Aliens, what's not to love.

The book is so centered on Alan that it is hard to really state that it could be anyone else

Extremely accessible (not really a gamer), well paced, expanding the richly fabricated world minute by minute. I've seen comparisons to Ready Player One, I enjoyed this a lot more and it is quite different. I'm in for the series, thank you.
