not a kids' book
One for Sorrow, Two for Joy is an OK listen for an adult. Don't let the animal characters fool you, though -- it's NOT for the kids. Too much blood, senseless cruelty, violence, and the like. If it is indeed optioned by Disney for a movie, it's going to require a lot of sanitizing.

Disappointed
I was enticed by the comparison to Watership Down, but was quickly let down. This story was just very flat and one-dimentional, in my opinion. The characters lacked any kind of depth, and the plot was simplistic and predictable. The narration was quite nice, though.
