Summary

A no.1 Kindle and Apple and top three Sunday Times bestseller.

Gayle is a highly successful and motivated business woman, but her success has come at a price – she hasn’t spoken to her daughters, Ella and Samantha, for years. But when Gayle has an accident at work, she realises she needs to make amends with her family.

And so she invites herself to join Ella and Samantha for their Christmas in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The sisters are none too pleased that their mother has inserted herself into their Christmas plans. They have each other – and don’t need their mother back in their lives. Or so they think…

As they embark on their first family Christmas together in years, will the three women learn that sometimes facing up to a few home truths is all you need to heal your heart?

Reasonable story, poor accents

I quite enjoyed the book, however the appalling American and even worse Scottish accents, really grated on me. I would have preferred no alternate accents since the reader could not do a decent one.

A Beautiful Tale

A beautiful inter-generational tale which focuses on the effects of grief, abusive relationships and complex family dynamics. Loved it from start to finish.

Slow paced

Would have liked more plot and a better twist. Good if you like a predictable romance.

Pleasant festive story

Enjoyable story focusing on three female characters coming together for Christmas after being estranged. Inevitably quite a predictable outcome but enough in plot to keep me listening. However as a Scot I find the narrator trying to use a Scottish accent tortuous to listen to and quite offensive!

I loved this!

This is a great story and the narrator was very easy to listen to. I love the characters and how their journey unfolds and their lives change so much. It was quite emotional at times and brought tears to my eyes more than once. I would have loved to have had a bit more, I didn't want it to end.

Easy listening

I didnt love it but it was easy to listen to. The only thing I found difficult was knowing who was speaking out of the mother and 2 daughters when they were together. They sounded the same.

Enjoyable, lighthearted story

The story was easy to follow, but the ending a little disappointing. It needed to tell me what happened next.
