I loved the Netflix series, but wow - this book is just perfect. I rarely leave reviews but had to for this.

Fabulous narration of a thought provoking and compelling story. Brilliantly written and expressed from two tight third person POV.

Stunning tale of lost love

I love the character development, the tension, the growth throughout the story. The twist was gutting, but more realistic than sailing away into the sunset.

Brilliant read

The characters were interesting, if rather frustrating. I don’t think I’ll be reading it again.

This isn’t my favourite read from this author but I think I’m glad I ploughed on!

I’d warmly recommend this novel. Having seen the Netflix adaptation of it, I hesitated to listen to an audiobook of the novel because of the ending (which I won’t give away). But I’ve enjoyed all of Nicholls’s other novels and couldn’t resist this one. And I’m glad not to have missed it! I chose this particular recording because I preferred the reader’s style of performance - and it really was excellent throughout. Annabel Scholey succeeded in making all the characters come to life vividly. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
