As the monsters descend upon the village, Owen realizes there's only one place left to go: across the lake. But can he survive the horror of the legends said to live below its muddy waters?

How short stories should be
I love the fact that I had the opportunity to hear this extra tale especially when i had enjoyed the compilation so much. The listening is perfectly timed as we are fast approaching Halloween. Hannibal Hills is the perfect narrator for these tales as his voice just keeps you gripped to the story. It was well written and the perfect length of just over an hour to listen to easily within one sitting . I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review of the book

Fun Story To Get You Into The Halloween Spirit
This was a short and fun listen. Perfect to get you into the mood for Halloween. As the main character is child, I think this is geared more towards the younger crowd, however, as an adult I still enjoyed this. Quick creepy story that you will want to listen to more than once. Eldritch Black does a good job crafting spooky holiday tales and this will be one that I will listen to once a year. As always, Hannibal Hills does a fantastic job narrating. Black and Hills make a great team and I truly enjoyed every bit of the story and narration. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A Great, Quick, Spooky Listen
One Dark Hallows Eve was a quick listen but perfectly creepy. It is a short story I will revisit over and over. The story did not take a path I was expecting, so it was a fun adventure. Perfect to listen to around Halloween and the autumn, or for people like me who love the feeling of the autumn season all year long. Hannibal Hills, as always, delivers a perfect narration with an amazing voice! I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.

Generic Goosebumps story
This story sounds like it came from the Goosebumps series my kids read when they were younger. The story isn't bad, and would be pretty good for the middle grade kids. Hannibal Hills does a pretty good job narrating but he seems to be yelling the whole time.

Awesome
I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Owen is always teased for crying about monsters until one day it is proven he was not calling falsehood. One Halloween changes the teasing of Owen and a town’s thoughts completely.

The author & narrator are both great. I have read one other book by this duo before this one & I enjoyed it. I’ll definitely listen to more books by this author. I was given this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Holy hell Narrator, read this.
You were great with almost every voice except Owens!! And maybe the mothers. Plz PLZ, don’t do that. Idc if they’re a child or a woman. nO ONE talks like that and it ruined the whole story. I still gave the story a 5, bc w/ a better narrator for those speaking parts, which did not need to be so high pitched and terror filled without change, the STORY has a 5 potential.

Good
In line with The book of kindly deaths .... a story pulled from the book... It was interesting and held my attention to the end. Not overly scary... but I still enjoyed it. Hannibal Hills brings the story to life!

Very entertaining short story, and gateway to TBKD
This is a cool little short story that's perfect for the halloween season. It also serves as a great gateway drug to the full book. I got this as a freebie from Audible and was hooked! I needed to hear more about The Book of Kindly Deaths (TBKD) and its scribes, so I went and got it right after.

Not a bad short.
I have listened to The Book of Kindly Deaths and loved it. This story was enjoyable as well. A great story wonderfully narrated as always. An old tale from The Book of Kindly Death takes place in a small village during Halloween. Some bullies pick a fight with the wrong monster and end up in the fight of their lives. Not only did they endanger themselves but have potentially doomed their whole village as well. It is up to one boy to face his fears and find the writer in time to save his family and friends. Love the stories in the series and sincerely hope for more. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
