What would happen if damsels in distress defied evil wizards and wicked queens, dismissed the marginally competent princes, and took the matters of their rescuing into their own hands? Find one possible answer here, in the first installment of Maria K's Alternative Endings series.

I really liked seeing the development in relationship between the two key women of the story, the mutual understanding and respect that shines through their conversations is refreshing to hear.

The best enjoyment comes from having an understanding of the tale of the Swan Princess as we are thrown in part way through the story, at the point that isn't usually told as tho the Princess is the title of the story often it tends to follow the Prince and his attempts to rescue her. it was a nice turn to find that the Princess wasn't as totally helpless as she thought, with the support of an unlikely friendship. the kinship between the two women who have both been abused by their world adds depth to the story.

Hem Cleveland gives strong voices to both women and make this short story thoughrolly enjoyable.

I was given this free audiobook and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

short but sweet, a strong start

A sort listen with a twist at the end. This was a lovely listen between some longer books. The narrator is clear and well passed.
