Summary

Best-selling author of Too Long a Stranger and Julia's Last Hope, Janette Oke is loved for her inspirational novels. In Once Upon a Summer, Oke weaves the tender tale of 12-year-old, Joshua, who has been raised by his 18-year-old aunt and their grandparents. He has grown accustomed to their close-knit family, but that is all about to change when Joshua's aunt considers marriage. Johnny Heller touchingly narrates the trials of faith this family must face.

Excellent Series, and Wonderful Narrator!

I thoroughly enjoyed all four audiobooks in this series, this being the first. We cannot (yet!) locate books by series as far as I know - I can say that all four (and the sequence is Summer - Autumn - Winter - Spring) are excellent. Well written, and extremely well read, with voices capturing and conveying the unique personalities of the various kind and memorable characters. I will watch for other Audible offerings by both this author and narrator! Enjoy!!

A family favorite!

My kids, ages 10, 9, and 8, loved it and didn't want to stop listening! I love the deep Christian truths being discovered my 9 year old Josh as he lives an exciting life on a farm, and works through his childhood troubles. (like not wanting his aunt to get married, and not being sure he will like his great grandpa moving in with them.) It is set out west in the early 1900's maybe?

Nice droll humor and appealing characters

Listened to it all in one day, laughing out loud at some of the thoughts of the protagonist.

Very enjoyable!

I loved the combination of humor and sadness and joy and basically just life brought to life.

Hard to stay interested

Clean story and well-written, but rather boring and hard to keep my interest. however, I gave it a fairly High rating because it is a strong Christian moral story
