About this listen

I'm not Goth to hide my Drow heritage, I'm Goth because I'm not a quitter.

My name is Cheyenne Summerlin, remember that name. Somebody should...

The world can't know I'm a Drow halfling. Not yet. I barely have these powers under my control, but time's up. I'm about to take magic for a test drive. Want to come along?

The black ops government group believe they can run my life... But I have plans of my own.

Watch out magical evil doers - I'm about to crash your party.

But will my training be enough?

Good story, slow to start but that's not a bad thing as it sets up our main character.

Lots of action and different characters - some good, some bad - time will tell if they are still good and bad by the end of the series..

I liked the narration too.

Good start to the series

Took a little while to get going and get involved with the character. Worth the wait.

Slow burn

Enjoyed the characters . Want to know more about her father but I guess that comes later . Cheyenne’s powers will grow I’m sure and there is no way they will let her go ..

Halfling

This is one of those times when you start something, regret it for a bit but then, you’re glad you saw it through to the end.

This a slow, steady journey tale that sometimes gets a bit repetitive but hang in there.

The main character is snarky, grumpy and quite honestly, hilarious when she starts her inner monologue. She’s also annoyingly brilliant and has serious antisocial tendencies.

The antagonistic elements are satisfyingly hateful and I enjoyed every second of their comeuppance.

Even the good guys are horrible humans at certain points. On top of all that, the many arcs don’t really have any real closure but this is okay. It is a serious commitment due to the length of each book and there is more in the series but it’s worth it.

I found I was really enjoying myself at about chapter 8 and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the story unfolding without the need to skip through as quickly as possible.

This is a tortoise, not a hare.

I liked the audiobook and will buy the next in the series. It was a unique storyline.

The narrator was a bit stiff at first but she grew on me.
