Summary

'The menopause is a weird one, as a woman you know that the likelihood of it happening to you is pretty inevitable, but no-one really tells you what to expect.'

So says Jenny Eclair, who, with her trademark humour, will share her experience of what can be a difficult time for many women, from the emotional side of life - missing the woman you were, the empty nest, mood swings - to the health aspects of the menopause, starring the hot flush and also periods (lack of), weight problems, insomnia and other issues.

Upbeat and honest, Jenny shares her new-found hobbies, the joy of pets and how to make the best of the different but still-fabulous you.

A must for every menopausal women (and for the men who want to understand)

WoW wow wow .... this is actually the 1st audio book I’ve ever listened to, whilst trying to chose my 1st book I was daunted by the huge selection available: so narrowed it down to something appropriate to me at this time ‘THE DREADED MENOPAUSE’ .. didn’t know what to expect but within 5 mins I was engrossed! It is enlightening, funny, educational and Jenny makes you feel comfortable in a strange way - like you’ve always been buddies! I enjoyed this book so much I finished within 3 listens..... fabulous writing and narrative - I feel less alone with my menopause and united with women of my age! Hooray x brilliant

Jenny Eclair is my new BFF!

This book was recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Jenny’s wry observations on what it’s like to go through ‘the change’ had me laughing out loud but also reassured - thank God I’m not the only one feeling like I do. If you are not a menopausal woman, I would still recommend this book as, chances are, you know someone who is, and this book humorously explains why menopausal women can be all sweetness one minute, only to be sobbing the next, followed by turning into Attila the Hun the next. Thanks Jenny - I will definitely be tuning into your accompanying podcasts from now on.

So funny and so much I can relate to

As someone who has been going through this ordeal for the past nine years this book was one I wish had been written years ago. Jenny Eclair is funny and a very clever writer, and the book is also written with just the right amount of humour, practical advice and thought provoking anecdotes that it is a real must for anyone embarking on this roller coaster of a ride. I felt this book could have been written about my own personal experiences and is a complete must for anyone going through this ordeal where you truly think you are going out of your mind at times. It’s just nice to know you’re not alone and that others are also experiencing the same things. Thanks Jenny!

Shot in the arm

So glad I listened to this. I felt as if a really knowledgeable, kind, understanding and brilliantly funny friend had sat me down, held my hand and guided me through everything I ever wanted to know (but was afraid to ask!) about the menopause. I loved every minute and romped through it. I feel so much better equipped to tackle the onslaught... Thank you Jenny

Mythbusting and brilliantly funny

I loved this book...especially read by Jenny Éclair herself. She puts so much into it. The content of the book is so welcome....Jenny makes it clear that the menopause is normal; funny, messy, annoying, sometimes welcome and often boiling hot; but normal. I finished the book feeling very much part of something.

A super companion to the not so merry menopause

Fun, informative and (the best bits) a deeply honest account of Jenny's own struggles with the many-armed menopause. Bravo! Ness (Peri-many) (Aged 50 and 4mths)
