Summary

Story Brooks's fiancé just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn't bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it's too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never been refused by a woman. So when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She's the daughter of his mentor, who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father's warnings and Daniel's troubled past, Daniel and Story can't resist their intense attraction to each other. But when the reason for her fiancé's abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel's already forbidden relationship survive?

Terrible narration

This was a good book. However, the narration was just awful. I don't know if she has a speech impediment, but this lady should not be narrating books. Totally ruined the story.

I adore Tessa Bailey. I adore every single one of her books. This narration? Torture. So frustrated. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Loved it!<br />Loved Story, loved Daniel

Laughed my ass off during the karaoke scene. Actually laughed my ass off a few times but the karaoke scene was priceless. My favorite of the series so far. I actually listened as part of the Audible romance package but this one was DEFINITELY worth a credit. Next in series features her BFF and his coworker do hopefully I will be revisiting them at some point during it.

Good.

I listened to this after reading positive (5 stars) Audible reviews. And it was good, with an actual story-line to carry the romance along. I love it when a Casanova-type hero is struck dumb by “the one” when he meets her. In this case, I similarly loved the verbal slap-down the heroine gave him when they met. Clever girl. The romance that built from there was sweet as well as hot-sexy with a nice little twist on the heroine’s relationship with her father. It was an enjoyable light story, but 3 stars for me.

Dang, that was good!

Any additional comments?

Tessa Bailey, you truly have a gift for writing sexy, dirty talking, kinky heroes!
This book features Daniel Chase, hostage negotiator extraordinaire and self-proclaimed lover of women, and Story Brooks, a twenty-five year old kindergarten teacher. Story is the daughter of Daniel’s mentor. See the problem?
Daniel and Story definitely heat things up with their off the charts chemistry but beyond all the sizzle there is a tender-hearted romance.
