About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Drifters in search of work, George and simple-minded friend Lennie have nothing in the world except each other - and a dream. A dream that one day they will have some land of their own. Eventually they find work on a ranch, but their hopes are doomed as Lennie - struggling against extreme cruelty, misunderstanding and jealousy - becomes a victim of his own strength.
Tackling universal themes, friendship and a shared vision, and giving a voice to America's lonely and dispossessed, Of Mice and Men remains Steinbeck's most popular work.
©1937 John Steinbeck (P)2021 Penguin AudioThe narrative voice and delivery was perfect! I struggle with narrators as they can sometimes upset the tone and monotonous ly deplete the storyline but this narrator neither distracted nor diminished the effect, he delivered it with all the rawness it needed. His particular portrayal of Lennie stood out.
Thoroughly enjoyed this!!
Riveting and emotionally immersive
