Summary

In Nothing But Trouble, a gripping crime thriller by best-selling crime author Kerry Wilkinson, DI Jessica Daniel has to protect the streets of Manchester from escaped prisoners - and those trying to hunt them down.

Niall O'Brien is a veteran living on the edge of a run-down estate, refusing to sell his house to developers. He's the only remaining resident, alone and frightened by a series of break-ins. He's been threatening to shoot the next intruder, but he can't be serious...what if the next person through the door is a police officer trying to help?

Elsewhere, on a bright Manchester morning, a vehicle screeches across a junction and wipes out a prison van. Two prisoners run for it, leaving the police to track them down. They don't have long to wait. Hours later one of the escapees is hanged from a motorway bridge. Was he broken out solely to be killed, or is there something deeper going on?

Meanwhile, someone's conning pensioners out of their savings, and there are rumours that the bare-knuckle British middleweight title fight is coming to the city. DI Jessica Daniel fears finding herself in the middle of an all-out war, not knowing that the biggest threat might come from a frightened pensioner.

Amazing again!!!

Love Jessicca Daniel! The writing is just brilliant but a mention to Becky Hindly because she makes Jessicca come alive. I have listened to every one of the Daniel series & it just gets better & better. Once you start listening, you never want the book to end. Can't wait for the return of Jessicca and Becky! Highly recommended.

Loved it

This book was gifted to me so I downloaded it on audible & was hooked. I loved the northern humour & the clever plot. Left me feeling lost when it finished. I will be searching out the others in the series.

Another great Jessica Daniel story

I've now read all of the Jessica Daniel novels in the space of three weeks - just couldn't help myself! The books are well written with good plots. The author has given the lead character a quick and dry sense of humour and her one-liners have had me laughing out loud. Can't wait for more

Probably the best in the series!

Have you listened to any of Becky Hindley’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Becky't narration is always fabulous and flawless. Her performance here is no exception.

Any additional comments?

I agree with the other reviewers who have said that this is probably the best book so far in the Jessica Daniel series. It is pacey, convincing (no poorly researched or unplausible events here) and the characters are so well drawn that I feel I know them all so well.

Twists and turns

Another great book by Kerry Wilkinson. Several stories combine and are mostly made clear at the end, except for one cliffhanger. I often didn't see that coming. The stories make sense and are feasible. A good read.
