Nobody handed you the manual. If you've spent your life feeling like everyone else got instructions for being a person—instructions you somehow never received, this book is for you. Written by a late-diagnosed autistic (AuDHD) woman who spent decades figuring it out the hard way, Nothing Is Wrong With You is the honest, practical guide no one gave neurodivergent young adults.

Not a lecture. Not a list of everything you're doing wrong. Just real, lived-in help for the things nobody explains:

  • Reading your own emotions-and what to do when you can't.
  • Surviving overwhelm and shutdown without falling apart.
  • Setting boundaries and having the hard conversations.
  • Managing money, work, and the "adulting" no one taught you.
  • Building a life that actually fits the way your brain works.

No puzzle pieces. No promises to "fix" you—because there was never anything to fix. You're not behind. You're not broken. You're wired differently, and different was never the same thing as wrong.

You've survived. This is the part where you learn to live.

There's a great story within us. Some people believe there's something wrong with us, but as the author states, we simply think and operate differently. Sometimes, we process the whole flood of life in just minutes. I enjoyed the great pointers, distinguishing gaps, separating lies from truth, and questioning how the schedule of life isn’t real. Where is our own finish line? I appreciated the personal stories, the hurt, and the pain. It's a powerful reminder that our bodies and lives sometimes have to handle obstacles we might not want to face or experience. I've learned how to check myself and understand the strength of willpower. The choices we make when calm versus frustrated are important, and I've learned not to overschedule my life. Whether you're trying to stand up for yourself or seeking room to grow, this is a wonderful listen, a great way to burn off the charge that physical demands leave behind.

The topics are relevant to young adults navigating everyday life. I like that the book goes beyond general discussions of neurodivergence and addresses practical challenges such as understanding emotions, dealing with overwhelm and shutdowns, setting boundaries, having difficult conversations, managing money and work, and figuring out all the “adulting” skills that often seem to come without instructions. The message that being different doesn't mean being broken is an important one, especially for someone who may have spent years wondering why certain things seem harder for them than for others. A great resource to help young adults build their confidence in their everyday life.

The writing is very well done and the narration is exceptional.

Since the author is a late-diagnosed autistic (AuDHD) woman who spent decades figuring it out the hard way she really gives you great information delivered very honestly.

Perhaps the best part of the book is how the Author shows you how to read your own emotions and just as importantly what to do if you are having a hard time figuring out those emotions especially in conversations that are hard. She also helps you understand how to set boundaries in your relationships.

On the more practical side her advice on how to deal with and handle money, paying bills, and just general life advice is very well done and full of great information that will certainly help every reader.

This is a great book and i highly recommend it.

Chapter 2 really hit me in the feels: knowing that I’m not behind. This is a topic that has really caused me some upset in the past as I felt like I should have more in savings, more achievements, and gone more places in my life. But Ginger Spears really gets these things, and offers a more accurate and compassionate perspective that really brings to light topics that affect so many of us. Spears takes these sorts of universal lies apart piece by piece and helps us regain footing in an uncertain world. She also narrates her own work, which is something I love when authors do - you can really feel the authenticity and passion in her words.

I really appreciated the perspective this audiobook offers because it focuses on understanding yourself rather than trying to force yourself to function exactly like everyone else. The sections on recognizing emotions, dealing with overwhelm, setting boundaries, and managing everyday responsibilities were practical and relatable. I especially liked that the advice comes from lived experience and acknowledges that different strategies work for different brains. It was an encouraging listen with useful ideas for building a life that works better for you.

A great listen
