Summary

Fierce, funny and raw, this unflinchingly honest exploration of heartbreak is so much more than a book about one single break-up.

This is a love story told in reverse. It's about the best and worst of love: the euphoric and the painful. The beautiful and the messy.

Reeling from a broken heart, Annie Lord revisits the past—from the moment she first fell in love, the shared in-jokes and intertwining of a long-term relationship, to the months that saw the slow erosion of a bond five years in the making.

It is an unflinchingly honest reminder of the simultaneous joy and pain of being in love that will resonate with anyone that has ever nursed a broken heart.

perfectly written, painfully relatable account of heartbreak and loss, and putting yourself back together after it all - a must read for the 20 somethings out there

Feels so raw and real

This book really surprised me. Listening to the thoughts and feelings of Annie made me feel less alone in the way I used to think. This book doesn’t pretend to be a fairytale and doesn’t teach lessons like other books. I simply reminds you that your feelings and thoughts during a heartbroken time are normal and not always a reflection on who you are. Couldn’t recommend this book more! Going to buy the physical copy so I can give it to friends as a must read

Comforting

It’s really comforting to listen to if you are or have been experiencing heartbreak, the ending was actually quite beautiful and made me tear up 😅 I hope I’ll get to feel like that at some point too but the whole of Annie’s storytelling reminds me that’s it’s ok to be up and down and getting over heartbreak isn’t always linear. I really liked the reading too, was very authentic coming from the author. Thank you for writing and recording this Annie 🙏

Outstanding

This book is so fresh, and yet so wise. Scarily relatable- at least 5 different points made me sit up and reconsider my own stuff. Absolutely loved it, going to send it to all my mates. Well done Annie, really excited to read whatever you write next 👍🏻

Relatable

I just loved this book. So many things were relatable which sometimes made me laugh sometime made me cry.
I don’t usually buy story books but this was an exception and very glad I did.
Excellent narration too.

Relatable and enjoyable to listen to

I really enjoyed this. Annie’s story really resonated with my younger self and her experiences brought back a lot of similar memories and feelings I have endured myself in similar circumstances of heartbreak and failed relationships.
I also enjoyed the metaphors and quotes that are woven into the story to give some depth and context. The emotional intelligence of the writer is obvious and I felt like I was listening to a friend speaking to me at times.
One thing I took away; it feels as though the story and the depth of detail contained within it is a way for Annie to immortalise her love with “Joe” and keep it alive in some way.
