Good story

What aspect of Simon Prebble’s performance might you have changed?

Some of the narrator's phrasing was off; enough to make me notice and take me out of the story, and I felt that he could've added more 'drama' to much of the story - the earlier part anyway (I didn't notice so much near the very end).
He was good at the Sussex-type accents tho'.
I feel bad criticising since I'm no actor, but normally I don't really notice the narrators,if that makes sense?

Not my Blood by Barbara Cleverly

I enjoying this story line until the last third of the book. When it suddenly changed from a investigation into missing children. To horrid experiments on monkies, and young children. This book needs to have a warning in situ for such upsetting scenes, especially as it's on Audio

An unexpectedly enjoyable read

Downloaded this free book to pass the time, and found myself transported back in time to a gripping mystery. Well written and well read by Simon Prebble.

The book could/should have been over in 5 hours!

Excellent narration of an overly elongated story. The writer obviously has excellent command of English, but too often it seemed as though she over extended her ability by inserting paragraphs which had no useful purpose, possibly to inform the reader of her intellect? I forwarded many parts when I recognised the writer was digressing and found I didn't actually miss any of the plot. The unnecessary detail of irrelevancies made it hard to endure at times, and only my stubbornness kept me listening to the end, although it has taken me 3 weeks to complete! I cannot recommend this book, however, I shall definitely try another book narrated by the excellent Simon Prebble.

Great start, pity about the ending

A thoroughly enjoyable and engaging start to this tale, the middle was OK (rather long winded) but the end section is utter rubbish... unpleasant experiments on animals and children... the tale morphed from a ripping yarn to something very grisly... disappointing.
