Summary

More than eight million people live in the sprawling metropolis that is London. This vast area is also home to a wide variety of wild animals, from birds and mammals to amphibians and insects. From renowned spectacles such as the Red Deer rut in Richmond Park to more everyday sights and sounds, such as Red Foxes patrolling our streets after dark, London offers a diverse range of potential wildlife encounters.

This collection of recordings features the sounds of some of the animals that share the capital with us, including the Grey Squirrel, Rind-necked Parakeet, and of course the ubiquitous Feral Pigeon.

A good idea even if heard before.

If you could sum up Wild London: Sounds of the City's Wildlife in three words, what would they be?

Noisy, useful, enlightening.

What did you like best about this story?

Hearing all the different sounds from different animals.

Which character – as performed by Fiona McCarthy – was your favourite?

Fiona didn't perform anything but I always love the song of the blackbird.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't think it would make a good film.

Any additional comments?

I think this is a good book for those who are not sure of the different animals and their sounds and it's good to hear mammals and frogs, not just birds. However, the mammals are the same sounds as from other books so I feel like I've heard most of the sounds on here before.
