Publisher's Summary

Gun rights advocate John Lott, author of More Guns, Less Crime, rebuts recent antigun "factoids" with real statistics.

When it comes to the gun control debate, there are two kinds of data: data that's accurate and data that left-wing billionaires, politicians, and media want you to believe is accurate. In The War on Guns, economist and gun rights advocate John Lott turns a skeptical eye to well-funded antigun studies and stories that perpetuate false statistics to frighten Americans into giving up their guns.

    "Real facts on guns."

Excellent book. The Canadian government needs to read this book! As a Canadian citizen I envy the personal rights and freedoms Americans have.

"With a different reader this book would be great"
Would you listen to The War on Guns again? Why?

Yes but there is an issue. This topic is one with a huge emotional content on both sides of the argument. I love John Lott and am very happy that he is there and has done all the research needed to PROVE he is the one whose facts are valid- HOWEVER, the book's reader has a very pushy argumentative tone which will invariably turn off the exact people who we need to have their views turned around by his books. I might not be able to recommend this book to anti-gun friends since it sounds like he is yelling the facts at us instead of simply educating us with good research. Would love his first book, More Guns Less Crime to be made into an audio bk with a less gnarly reader.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    not applicable

What aspect of John McLain’s performance would you have changed?

Who the heck is John McLain?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes but I would never have the time

    Any additional comments?

make his first book into an audio book More Guns, Less Crime

"Great info that I can't share"

Dr. Lott does great, thorough research. However, the tone of the narrator makes this impossible to share with anyone on the other side of this debate.

    "Just the facts..."

Excellent journalism, well compiled data, nice to actually get real and accurate data, not the garbage the news media puts their own spin on "gun control ". It's clear the tip 1% is trying to manipulate the data to forward their political agenda.

    "Full of great statistics"

This book is full of great statistics. It reveals lots of lies our government is telling us to try to take away our guns. With all the stats it can get boring, but you will get lots of defence against anti gun liberals.
If you can get an anti gun liberal in the car on a long road trip, this would be a great book to pay on Audible.

    "Data-driven and intellectually honest"

Content: Philosophy and theory are great, but hard data honestly dissected is critical for this subject, and Dr. Lott delivers it well. He deconstructs the arguments of the gun-grabbers with sound logic delivered in comprehensible, common language. With rare exception (nobody's perfect) my skeptical mind was fully satisfied that Lott had made his point. Truly and excellent book. I bought a hard copy to use as a reference during discussions and debates.

Performance: Great! Up there with Hugh Mann ("Black Rednecks and White Liberals")

"Great Book, its is a really good reference"

This book brings a really good counter balance to the gun control debate table. Being a Canadian, I also made sure to fact check arguments and data, and each and every time it was right on. The gun debate has been polarized and biased for too long now and we must realize the consequences of these failed policies. By trying to make us safe, politicians pushing gun control laws have made us more vulnerable while at the same time having no impact at all on crime reduction. It is time we start valuing life, and start looking at the topic from a more rational stand point. The idea that gun control reduces crime is a myth and it must be debunked by unbiased analysis. After all, the premise of gun control is that criminals obey the law.

    "Fantastic information"

As someone who has up until recently never owned guns before, this book was recommended to me to get an understanding of what is going on with the political climate in our country in regards to our rights.

It is eye opening to say the least. This book was very well researched and backed up by legitimate statistics from studies done by government entities as well as universities and it just goes to show that you must know where data comes from and how it is used, a lot of the gun control lobby groups cherry pick data and use it out of context to try and get their point across. This book will tell you how the data is used, and why it is important, and is very factual. Highly recommended by those who are both in-the-know and those who have feelings against guns. It is truly an important topic for those of us who live in the United States with today's political climate.

    "hard to argue the facts"
Would you consider the audio edition of The War on Guns to be better than the print version?

a must read by everyone, it's hard to argue the facts. You can choose to ignore them and embrace them.
