Publisher's Summary

I have confined myself in the main to those problems of philosophy in regard to which I thought it possible to say something positive and constructive, since merely negative criticism seemed out of place. For this reason, theory of knowledge occupies a larger space than metaphysics in the present volume, and some topics much discussed by philosophers are treated very briefly, if at all.

I have derived valuable assistance from unpublished writings of G. E. Moore and J. M. Keynes: from the former, as regards the relations of sense-data to physical objects, and from the latter as regards probability and induction. I have also profited greatly by the criticisms and suggestions of Professor Gilbert Murray.

"What a Fascinating Listen, Narrator is GREAT!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Problems of Philosophy to be better than the print version?

Honestly with this narrator, yes. He does an excellent job bringing this philosophical piece to life!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Russell lays out what he believes are problems with other philosophers..and I agree for the most part

Which character – as performed by Kevin Theis – was your favorite?

Bertrand Russell and Kevin Theis does a stellar job with the narration!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This would make a far better listen than a movie. Well worth a credit!

    "An Intro to Philosophy"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I I would highly suggest this book to a friend who enjoyed their college philosophy class. The author did an amazing job breaking down philosophy into easy to understand examples. I do however think a basic background of philosophy is necessary.

What does Kevin Theis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kevin Theis has a very professorial demeanor that reminded me of my college seminars. I slowed down the narration at points to make the most helpful examples stick and to write down references for additional reading. Overall, I enjoyed the narrator.

If you could give The Problems of Philosophy a new subtitle, what would it be?

The Problems of Philosophy and Universal Themes in Philosophy.

    Any additional comments?

I think anyone interested in philosophy would appreciate this book! I will have a second listen once I do more reading on the subject. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

And not for me. I wanted to see if this was something I would find interesting. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t find it interesting. When I found myself tuning it out, I turned the book off. This is unusual for me as I stubbornly tend to finish everything I start. I think this may actually be a good philosophy discussion, it just wasn’t for me.

The narration was perfect in tone and cadence for this material. It sounded just like you would think a philosophy discussion should sound like.

I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom! in exchange for an honest review.
