Publisher's Summary

Brian Blessed has a lifelong love of animals and over the years has rescued cats and dogs, horses and ponies, and even a very ungrateful fighting cock. All were characters in their own right, such as Jessie, a dog left languishing for a year at the local RSPCA, who ruled the entire household with a rod of iron, when she wasn't out harassing the local vicar. Then there was Bodger, an abused terrier cross breed nursed back to health by Brian and his wife; and Peppone, a stray cat and notorious thief, was responsible for a crime epidemic in the Bagshot area. Most of all there was Misty, a soul mate and the first Jack Russell Brian met who didn't take an instant dislike to him.

Over the years Brian has encountered more exotic animals, too, from Kali the black panther who had free run of his kitchen and the gentle boa constrictor Bo Bo who went for walks with him in Richmond Park to the female gorillas who found him incredibly attractive. Written with all of Brian's ebullience, The Panther in My Kitchen is a laugh-out-loud, life-affirming audiobook about the joy animals bring and why we should care for them.

    "Blessed by the Blessed again!"

Brian does it again with another exceptional listen! Beautifully written and superbly read by the man himself.

A little bit of an emotional rollercoaster ( for me anyway) a few tears here and there at the sad bits and more than a few more at the many, many funny bits. Glad I bought the audio version as the pages would be soaked through!!

I love Brian, his blunt and to the point attitude with appropriately placed expletives highlights nothing more than his honesty and total love for almost anything with a pulse!
A true hero and gentleman, if I were a dog, I'd wag my tail too!

    Thank You Brian xx

"Blessed reading is like a warm bear hug."
Would you consider the audio edition of The Panther in My Kitchen to be better than the print version?

Absolutely. It feels like Brian is around the same fireplace as you just leaning forwards and taking you through his book. Absolutely Fantastic narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Panther in My Kitchen?

So many, hilarious exploits with his German Shepherd, and extreme sadness of some of the family losses. All brimming with optimism and joy right the way through.

What does Brian Blessed and Hildegard Neil bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He and she lived the experience. His voice recalls all of the emotion of the events beautifully. It really feels like you are with them being taken through their adventures by hand.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Adventures with animal friends and companions

    Any additional comments?

The first audible that I was moved enough to write a review... brilliant.

    "You know what you're getting"

Assuming you've listened to (why on Earth would you 'read' it when you've got Brian narrating it?!) 'Absolute Pandemonium', you know what you're getting with Brian's new book.

It's witty and funny of course and there's at least one 'GORDON'S ALIVE!!!' but although this tome jumps around a little more than his full autobiography and is more of a collection of roughly chronological animal-related stories, there are some real heart-touching tales too.

I must say, as well as it being an animal-related memoir, it also uses the animals, both pets and wild ones, as a vehicle to explore more of Brian's richly colourful life, which is what I was hoping it would be too. A must for any Blessed fan and I'll be looking forward to the next one.

Brian Blessed's voice is probably one of the coolest ever. Living with an abundance of animals sounds like the best life ever.

This is a moving, funny and totally absorbing book. A fascinating insight into one of England’s favourite characters. His interactions with the animals he meets is entrancing. Read it today.

A great audiobook. Having the author narrate the book added a fourth dimension. A fantastic insight into this interesting man.

    "Wonderful!"

I'd listen to Brian reading the phone book, this is even better! A charming book, beautifully narrated and if I must find a fault ot would be that it is too short.
