Summary

A unique, courageous and dedicated seeker after the truth - and the greatest thinker of his time - Socrates has held his place as one of the most celebrated philosophers for over 2,300 years.

Socrates created and embodied a living holistic philosophy that integrated mind, body, and soul. Concerned solely with ethics, he asked the timeless question that affects us all: What is the right way to live?

Now, this clear and insightful audiobook presents a new, fully rounded portrait of Socrates' philosophy, life, and tragic death - drawing on the earliest, most authentic dialogues of Plato, but also on the more down-to-earth writings of Xenophon, another student of Socrates.

Mark Forstater explains how Socrates was not just a thinker for 4th century BC Athens, but can still help us find meaning in this new and troubled century.

Interpretation of Socrates

There are innumerable accounts of Socrates and his wisdom but this one stands out for its quality of interpretation. It's well balanced and touches on aspects of him that I hadn't known about. This was important because these aspects have brought me closer to Socrates and myself.
