Publisher's Summary

From Neil Bennion, author of Dancing Feat, comes this all-new, quick guide to Colombia.

The world's most famous demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, were called in to help an average American family who were assaulted by forces too awesome, too powerful, and too dark to be stopped. It's a true story, supported by dozens of eyewitnesses - neighbors, priests, police, journalists, and researchers.

The grim slaughterhouse of odors.... The deafening pounding.... The hoofed half-man charging down the hall.... The physical attacks, a vicious strangling, failed exorcisms, the succubusm and the final terror which continued to torment the Smurls.

In this shocking, terrifying, deeply absorbing book rivaled only by The Amityville Horror, a case also investigated by the Warrens, journalist Robert Curran digs deep into the haunting of the Smurl home in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and the unshakeable family bonds that helped them survive.

I am a big fan of Ed and Lorraine Warren. I admire and have the utmost respect for what they do abd the love and care they feel for their fellow man. I hope one day I can at least be half the Demonologist they are and through Ed have gone on a he of us that I might actually meet and learn from Lorraine some day. "Scary story, creepy performance (not in a good way"

Todd Haberkorn is the man reading this story, and when he lends his voice to female characters he tries to act out in a way that sends shivers up my spine; it's ridiculous, annoying and profoudly unappealing. When he is acting out little girls it's even worse. Use you're own voice, Todd!

    "Scary, but a little repetitive."

The book starts off fairly enjoyable and creepy. The story is paced well, and you really get to know all involved. In the last few hours though, it does start to drag some. It's the same stories and interviews over and over. Do we need to know about every night they were kept awake due to banging or saw a figure? We don't.

Again, the narration is really well done.

    "Well written "

I feel bad that this family had to endure such a horrific encounter. I hope that they were finally able to obtain peace. The book was well written and kept you interested throughout the whole thing. Todd Haberkorn does such a great job narrating this book, he's one of my favorite narrators! I recommend listening to this one, these things really do happen...evil does exist and we need to be aware of it.

    Story
    "An Interesting Read"

Having first seen the movie based upon the book, I must say that this is one of the few times when a movie is better than a book. Now do not get me wrong, the book was very interesting and it did have a bit more details than the movie, but I was rather disappointed in how the book was written.

First, the book, which was suppose to be a biography of what happened to the Smurl family, was written like a story; and not a very well written one. Since it was suppose to be a biography it, in my opinion, would have made more sense to have it written more like a report than a badly written story.

Second, I firmly believe that if it were to be written with the testimony of the actual people, to have chapters to describe actual events as told by the person, not intermingled stories.

Story value I liked. I like true life stories.

The writing ability of the Author was relatively amateurish. It wasn’t a written well.

Performance was decent although the narrator Gould have forfeited the way he tried to distinguish the male and female characters.

If you’d like something that’s an easy, but not well written, read, then this would be a great book for you.

    "Worst narration ever"

I think I got into this book a whole hour and 30 minutes and I just couldn't take it anymore. If your ears are better than mine, go for it, but I couldn't take it anymore. More power to you! It was so irritating that I couldn't even focus on the story. Because of his voice, I actually got mad at the story. I found that to be rather strange…
